      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Lattitude in game?

10 posts in this topic

I heard from someone on the forum I've been playing on that the world in TerraFirmaCraft generates in a way that colder biomes are closer to the north and south poles, apparently, and warmer nearer to the center. Are these things actually in the terrain generation, or no? Because the wiki is no help, it doesn't say anything as to the terrain, really.

Yes This is true. Past 20,000 z in either direction (positive or negative) everything is just tundra. Before that point though, from 0 z (the equator) up until the poles, it gets progressively colder. Also, closer to the equator, you will find more jungles, adn you cannot find jungles past a certain point.

Why is this not on the wiki, anyway? Its extremely useful information for someone who wants to try to find a different biome.

I really don't know. The wiki is mainly user edited, and it doesn't seem like many people have been maintaining it recently.

really, 20000, i found some relativly cold biomes (coniferous woods mostly) starting at about 7000, i feel 20000 is a bit much

Honestly, I've found these can spawn just about anywhere. He's mentioning that its much more likely for cold biomes to spawn further south. What you're referring to is Taiga. He's talking about Tundra. And these are not required, but more likely, to form at those lattitudes.

You have to get permission to edit the wiki, which discourages people from doing casual edits. Since most people who contribute to wikis start with casual edits and then work their way up to more significant changes over time, having a permission barrier pretty much kills participation in any wiki.

Yes, I was talking about tundra. :) There SHOULD be snow and just snow up there, but currently, there is no hook for Froge relating to snow that would not require editing base files, or some Java coding jibber-jabber that I really have no clue about whatsoever, that is preventing there from being just snow and ice.

Agreed. But I CAN see why they would do that.

They have fun making mistakes and seeing other people becoming crazy to correct the wiki.

We have a permission barrier because some people aren't as noble-minded as you. It allows us to ban people from making further updates if they purposely post wrong information and it allows us to get a feel for who you are before we let you edit things. When you ask to edit the wiki, I'll look at your profile rating and number of posts. I want people who are active in the community and know what they're talking about. I don't want rumours and misinformation to seep into the wiki.
