      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] [0.78.3] Food dupe when cutting off decayed portions

7 posts in this topic

I can't figure out the exact situation that causes it, but sometimes when I'm using a knife to cut the decayed parts off my food it dupes the food. I take the result but it doesn't consume the decayed food from the crafting grid and I can keep taking the result out. I don't do anything different when it works vs. when it dupes, although it usually happens when I leave the knife in the crafting grid and cut a bunch of food all at once (still one at a time, just sequentially without removing the knife in between). I can usually reproduce it by rapidly taking the output food and putting it back into the grid to be cut again over and over.

If you're shift clicking at all, then this is a copy of a bug that's already been reported and fixed for 78.4

I'm not shift clicking at all. They're not fake duplicates either like sync issues. I can eat them, and it happens in SSP.

To confirm the dupe, when you combine all the items back together, you get more weight than what you started with?

Are you sure they have decay when you combine with knife?

If there's no decay, it splits the stack in two

This does sound like what Temujen said, you're just splitting the stack. esp if you're doing this repeatedly.

When I was first seeing it during normal play it was definitely with food that had decay. The percentage could have been really small though. I'll look more closely at the weight values next time it happens. Maybe the decay % is so small that it acts like there isn't any decay and splits it.

Edit: It's definitely splitting it, not duping, but it does happen with food that shows very small decay percentages like 0.0% or 0.01%. I'll just mark it solved for now since I'm probably just being too neurotic about removing decayed portions. I'll try looking into it with a newer build.
