      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Sky access for bloomery and forge

9 posts in this topic

Hello. I'm designing my smithing room and there is a few things i need to know.

I read on the wiki that the forge can have "curved" sky access which prevents the rain from putting it out.

My questions are:

1. Is this also the case for the bloomery and the blast furnance? Can they have curved access to sky as well?

2. If not, what happens when it rains on my bloomery/blast furnance?

3. If something happens, are there any countermeasures?

2. If not, what happens when it rains on my bloomery/blast furnance? They'll both be fine.

3. If something happens, are there any countermeasures? N/A

Neither the bloomery nor the blast furnace require sky access.

Right, but I mean, you can build them in your basement or something, they don't actually need to be open to the sky like the forge.

I really need to stop assuming things ... *trashes super chimney idea* lol

J/K for my own realistic idea i did place and connect the 2 together, incase my world survives updates and the system changes at somepoint, Sealed it of with trap doors since im underground. Gives quite the comfi feeling having it all so close to eachother :)

I usually add a forge under the crucible on the blast furnace. If for any reason the metal cools down I can easily reheat it.

This is one of those, "why didn't I think of that?" kind of things.  Very nice.
