      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. TFC recontructed

Yes that was clear from the OP. My point was that if it was as simple as you present it then go ahead and do it. I even presented alternative pathes you could take to start to bring your vision to reality that requires no coding experience. The first lesson you'd likely learn is that it is harder than you think. Hopefully for community you and collaborators would continue to learn and we'd gain more add-ons for TFC. It is clear that you and your ILK love TFC and care about it's future, so I see value in using this energy to improve the add-on landscape. I think the way TFC is being developed is great and wouldn't want that to change.
  2. make bushes.. unpickupable?

---------------------------------------------------------------If you don't like that they can be replanted then choose to not do it in your gameplay. Others collecting them does not hurt you. AFAIK they can regenerate, so not even a huge issue for you in SMP as it would only really be one season before you progressed out of early game. I love adventuring in MC and especially in TFC. I live fairly north. I have a farm further south I trek to 3 times a year. I have a couple of charcoal outposts I use and I trek a good distance for the rock salt area to get more fertilizer and stop at my graphite mine along the way. There are quite a few desired trees I'm still missing. There is also black spots on my map that bug me. I not only have a need to, but a love of wandering. I don't need to be forced by another game mechanic. Even if fortress style was my style of choice it is just that my choice. If I like to conquer and achieve a certain level of safe self-sufficiency I should be able to do that, especially if the choices I make in no way impinge on other players choices. My tastes in-game favour a few berry types. Being forced to zigzag over the same territory 3 times a year to get the berries would not only be annoying, but would take up time I'd rather spend doing other things. Even in SMP no player could expect enough berries in their area to support a decent trade system.Edit Oh and they are great for decor. There are no leaf blocks so a huge number of players use them by buildings for ascetic reasons.
  3. TFC recontructed

I certainly understand the feeling that a mod does not do exactly what you want for your play style. I'm a co-founder of a modded server which developed and tweaked a pack that gave a much harder tech progression. We made full use of provided configs, requested new ones, used a bunch of mods to change things (MineTweaker and CustomOreGen were key) and we used Bukkit plugins to tweak other parts. I also got to deal with players who did not like some of our decisions and the joys of that. Building a custom pack is also possible to do with TFC to change the experience. TFC is very unique compared to a lot of other mods, but the ability exists to make add-ons for TFC that expand or tweak existing mechanics. Building a pack or authoring some add-ons seems a more practical goal. But by all means start a GitHub and see what you can do. I'd suggest that recruiting on or co-oping this forum is not kosher though and will likely be met with hostility. It will be at the very least a learning experience for you.
  4. Nifty tricks

I always keep a couple of stacks of sticks in my forge working chest. When I'm done smithing I use the remaining heat to craft torches. Shift-click them in, double click finished torch to grab them all out, rinse and repeat. Very quick way to make a stack or two of torches and no wasted fuel.
  5. Surgar cane growth in the cold

Vanilla sugar can is now called Reeds and make only paper. Sugarcane is a TFC crop. Spawning of reeds is like vanilla, perhaps rarer, but I've had no issue finding around -10k
  6. Water vapour from mouth when its cold

These seems more of a suggestion to bring to devs of shader packs or to develop as an add-on. An add-on that added things to give immersion for those that want it. Breath, sweat, bugs in face, footprints, wind sounds in trees and grass.
  7. I can't think of an item that can go on a tool rack that can stack. Not sure if that would be an issue. Being able to grab one quick is nice and I really like the ascetics of it, but I don't want to need a wall of tool racks or, if it was still allowed, a double chest to store my ropes.
  8. Impressions on B79

I wonder if the lack of variety is a consequence of other changes in worldgen, most notably ocean size. I see a moderate amount of variety, but the islands/continents are closer than they were on my 78 map and they tend to share rock types. But that is just my impression and well observational bias is likely.
  9. make bushes.. unpickupable?

But that is not how they were used historically. They were an important staple of the diet, because they knew when and where they would be. Their importance continued and even now are important food stuff. My father grew up on a farm in Northern Ontario and the wild berries and cultivated berries were an important food stuff. The harvesting and preserving of the berries took valuable time and would not have been done if it wasn't important. The climate didn't support a great deal of fruit and they did not have the space or ability to have large orchards. Berry bushes are hardy, low maintenance and produce an impressive amount of food. But that is RL in TFC, mechanic for cultivating, yay. Unpickable without greatly increasing their spawn rate and clump size, no thanks. As for your, they are too small to be filling. Well the stacks are by weight, so be it a few steaks or a large number of berries. 160oz is 160oz.
  10. make bushes.. unpickupable?

In the real world many berry bushes grow in very large clumps, which increase in size season to season. Especially if this is encouraged by people. The reason communities would travel or even relocate for them was that they were a large predictable source of food. A berry patch could support multiple bears preparing for hibernation. I'm all for new mechanic, but not if they make a resource pointless. In my current world I have few berry plants and they make up a very small amount of my fruit consumed. If I was forced to trek to all the locations they grew for a small handful I won't bother.
  11. early structures for latest builds?

    Even the experienced make mistakes.
  12. Rename Protein to Meat

I suggest you just take a breath and move on. You are free to hold any views you like and conduct your life as you feel is right. Show others this same respect and not shame them with your "facts". This a game forum, please don't brow beat others this is not the place.
  13. (79.10) Forge Eats all the Food

I'm aware of this. I even put intended in my report. It was something I discovered in 79.3 or so. I dismissed it thinking it was intentional, but on tfc Tuesday stream Kitty seemed unsure if it was intended, so I felt it was worth posting. Cooking in forge may have long been discouraged, but it was still possible in 78. And for fire pit food gets to very hot and then progresses through levels of cookedness. In Forge they hit very hot as raw and then vanish. I'm not even complaining about it. As this wasn't documented all I and you can do is guess and I thought official word would be nice.
  14. (79.10) Forge Eats all the Food

Version #: 79.10 SSP/SMP (Single/MultiPlayer): SSP, but Honney had it happen on TFC TuesdaySuggested Name: Forge is Hungry for you FoodSuggested Category:Annoying, possibly IntentionalDescription: Food cooking gets to Very Hot in forge, quickly flashes message Clear an Output Slot and the food vanishes. With introduction of the grill this may be intentional. I did not see anything in changelog about it.Have you deleted your config files and are still able to reproduce this bug?: Yes*If you answered no to the above question, delete your config files and try to reproduce the bug. This question is here because many bugs are caused by mistakes in config files. All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question.Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed?: Yes If yes, which mods? Fastcraft NEI
  15. Why this mod become hardcore ?

You are entirely correct. Devs make mods they want and create their own vision. They then are kind enough to share it with the larger community. They are even kind enough to provide configs to tweak many features to make them easier or harder than their original vision. Sure it is never that black and white, but at the core this is true. They certainly can't do or add all that is asked of them. For cave-ins alone they would end up in an infinite loop with just two people. They reset cave-ins to 78 for Person A. Person B complains it is too easy/unrealistic, back to 79 mechanics. Repeat. So make your suggestions as clear and convincing as possible. When they say yes, you say thank you. When they say No, accept it and move on.
  16. [79.10] used beam not stakable with fresh ones

I have had them go into a second stack despite there being a partial stack, but they still stacked when I manually stacked them.
  17. I like how them asking to get two hoes for the price of one has turned into a bowl troll. I'm not sure if Kitty should go into business or politics.
  18. Spawning in boring terrain.

I think something, intentionally or just a side effect, changed in worldgen in last couple of patches. I recently remade my world in 79.10 and there are subtle, but noticeable differences. I'm seeing some changes in ore distribution, exposed ores no longer present and less small pieces on surface. There are substantially less floating bits, which was my gripe. There is still some impossible formations and a few floating bits, but the huge floating islands are gone.
  19. Arrow bouncing

Slightly off topic but I had a similar occurrence except derp not bounce. I shot straight up at a spider, but missed. Killed it with axe after missing. A moment later the arrow I shot returned to hit me while I put spider drops in chest.
  20. Arrow bouncing

I thought it was a feature as well to allow players a chance to salvage arrows/javelins after hitting enemy(not 100% chance to get them back). The hitting other mobs nearby is just a consequence of the mechanism to allow this behaviour.
  21. BetterGrass Causes Lag

Fancy graphics for vanilla Minecraft is default. Render distance is default 10 (or is it 12 now). I could list all kinds of settings that are default on vanilla minecraft which contributes to the load on a system, which results in lag issues. The defaults are set to display the graphics level the developer feels shows the product they want and expect players who have less optimal systems to configure their client to suit their hardware, be it up or down from default. As for allocating more RAM, this is good to a point. Too little or too much RAM can cause issues. Too little and it can't load properly. Too much and you give Java a big garbage bin (heap space) to fill with junk it no longer needs. A bigger garbage bin take more resources to empty and will lag game every time it empties. TFC seems happy with 1.5-2GB. Only reason to devote more afaik is for higher res textures/shaders.
  22. Suggestion Categories

I wonder if using an issue tracker or something similar would make maintaining and organising a suggestion thread easier. Force suggestions to tag with category so they could be filtered.
  23. Donkeys

You are just clearly demonstrating you have no understanding of this. No one said it would corrupt your computer and talk of virus is silly. So instead of implying we are talking out of our asses and you'll just "have to believe us" maybe realising others might know more than you. Especially Kitty, who from her role and post clearly understands Java programming and the TFC code very well. An entity is part of the data MC must save when unloading a chunk. If the entity is corrupted (ie some of its data is messed up in some way (a byte went wrong). When saving the chunk data it tries to save the entity information, but if the entity data is corrupted in a particular way it can cause the chunk save to abort. This means that MC falls back to the chunk data that was saved in last unload. It is rare for corrupt entity data to do this, but very possible. Worse is if it does manage to save the corrupt data as that can mean when the chunk reloads it can't use the saved data and has to regenerate the chunk based on seed as it has no other data it can use. There is a response not for you but for others reading who may not understand how this could work and are open minded and wish to learn. As for what I mean by your responses. This topic is a fine example and your second last post is no different.
  24. Donkeys

It is nice that Etho has video documentation of an issue I've seen a couple of times to show the know it alls. I edited it out of my last response, but I'll put it back now. Vlad your behaviour on this forum, to admins and general users, is rude, condescending and obtuse. So I'm done trying to help you in anyway.
  25. Donkeys

You didn't understand my point or didn't read my full post.
