      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. It only happened once, strangely. I've started several other worlds and it works just fine. As for RAM, I don't have a lot of it, and it's usually taken up by minecraft and other misc. things anyways.

  3. I actually find myself enjoying setting up permanent settlements with farming and such, then creating little road networks to the various mines that I need to advance in tiers. Maybe it's just the city-builder in me, but it's one of the more enjoyable features that this mod has (slow-growing agricultural things, animals crops etc, slow to build metal structures, that kind of thing.) Seems very group-oriented for townbuilding, but hermiting is also a viable playstyle.

Looks very good! Thx for sharing :) The ceiling in the Silver Dragon Inn looks a bit plain, maybe you want to chisel the lumber between the logs. But it looks already really cosy, I like it.

Thanks!  And yeah, I do intend to do a little work on the inn, as I do agree it is a bit plain atm.  I also plan to add a cellar eventually.

    Does it snow there continuously?
Must be an extreme latitude if it does - also it seems to be perpetually dark ;)

Nah, it was just dark and snowy when I took the pictures, it's mid-december on that world.  The latitude is x: -13000 though, so it is rather cold most of the time.

  5. Was working on this town/port for a couple days, decided to share here:

WARNING: The following buildings are heavily reliant on pine, if you do not like this wood or just simply don't like two-colour buildings then this picture gallery probably isn't for you. Viewer discretion is advised.

The ship (apologies for shoddy construction, I'm just kind of terrible at ships):

And that's it. Tell me what you think, criticism is welcome!

  6. Fun fact: alpacas are not a naturally occurring species of camelid. They are a cross between a llama and a vicuña.

Anyways, llamas would be neat animals to see in warmer, more tropical areas. Camels could spawn on the borders/interiors of deserts. If we had a pack-animal mechanic, it could offer some alternatives to donkeys and horses.

  7. The thing about it is, that larger forges actually eat more fuel up and don't heat the metal as well. That's why most actual forges you see are the way they are, so that the center of heat is concentrated so you can get a high, constant heat. The forges you see in games like Skyrim are purely artistic in nature, and in real life would consume about 4-5 times more coal/charcoal and probably only heat half as well, since the heat is spread out over such a large area.

  8. We already have about a dozen types of drinks in this game. Granted, technically all of them are alcoholic, but if you want a non-alcoholic drink besides water, I tend to consider cider as not being alcoholic (or at least not alcoholic enough to be considered "hard" alcohol.)

  9. Well Azanor has given me permission to release this crossover, which is great. Not going to get into it, but if he wasn't ok with my releasing altered versions of some of his classes, it would be quite a bit more work for me. Currently I'm scrambling to pack and move across the planet and find some work, but when I'm settled back in I should have a beta version of the crossover ready in the new year.

I look forward to testing ThaumCraft in TFC. Good luck with your move!

  10. Ah, okay, thanks for clearing that up, I didn't really read every single thing in this topic when I replied.

The system you talk about looks like it should work fine. I look forward to mining in volcanic areas for my fire shards and underwater for water shards. :)

Any idea on where ordo shards and aer shards will spawn?

    0

  11. I feel like shards in the vanilla version of Thaumcraft are pretty easy to find. Maybe you could just limit the generation of them so that they do generate in fairly large clusters, but will only do so in certain areas (much like TFC ore spawns right now.) If this were the case, then we need clues as to where they are on the surface. Special flowers? New shard nuggets? All of these would make sense (to me, anyways.) Perhaps greatwood/silverwood trees would spawn more commonly on top of these clusters?

  12. Dont forget about vanilla minin- huh? ssssssssss..... OH GO- BOOM!

Need I remind you that this still happens in TFC?

Also, we have bigger veins in TFC, which does result in more ingots than your typical vanilla MC ore harvest.

    0

  13. Hehe, my signature. :)

Also, I would like to point out: in my experience on the server that I play on, the amount of metals still undiscovered around spawn were generally not harvested until very recently, and this world has been around for around 70

in-game years. I think the reason behind this is that most people wanted to settle further away from spawn to get at the different stone types and metals (and also just variation in landscape.) Also settling away from spawn before we got mytown was protection against newbie/troll grief.

About players destroying your stuff, that is, unfortunately, a fact of life. Certain people are just dicks because they like to be dicks, no matter how grand or fancy your statue or house is. I myself have experienced this, mostly in the form of my blacksmith building being robbed countless times. Solution? Keep stuff in stashes out in the wilderness. Otherwise, install factions or mytown onto your server/ask the server owner to consider a land protection mod.

I will say in final: TFC is an acquired taste. You need to know your stuff or have someone teach you ingame, otherwise you'll be lost and alone and generally have no idea what's going on. Applying real-life logic tends to help too, in my opinion.

Just my 2c. Anyone can feel free to gripe or agree as much as they like, and I will respond in kind.

    1

  14. TFC of course, have much more durability and damage! :)

But many tools to cut metal is made of diamond abrasives.

Smashing diamond against steel will not cut it, the diamond will only shatter.

I feel like the vanilla MC method of crafting armor and tools is much more crude than TFC. We take the time to heat the metal and work it into sheets and make sure it's good quality, while vanilla just mushes the ingots together via press or something and just feels weak.

  15. Why does this topic exist?

Is it to discuss these "weenies" you speak of?

Is it a place where fellow weenies can gather and talk about their own secret stuff?

Or is it just some random post that has no value whatsoever?
