      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. I keep saying dig a hole on the ground or side of a hill until you have adobe for your walls. Use thatch for the roof and you are dome.
  2. Add Slabs and Stairs as a Creative Block edited

Ok when I say craftable All I mean is that slabs and stairs would behave the same way as smooth stone does. Using the chisel in smooth mode you create a block not a entity. My Idea is to have the same happening for the stairs and slab mode, so a block would be created. A block that could be picked up and replaced. I understand that when on slab mode the chisel removes layers, and that could cause some confusion. Since I am no coder I have no Idea what would be worthwhile the time of the devs. I see two options: create another mode on the chisel specific for the half slab, or make it so once you remove 4 layers it turns into a slab block. BTW if someone can find a better wording to say all that on the title of the OP I will edit it. Thanks.
  3. Tool reworking

But all you saying about believable could be achieved with the notion of alloys. I think is easy to imagine that blue steel is some kind of alloy that can resist fire since it can pick up lava. The same logic could be applied to most of the enchantments. A good alloy is what makes a better sword not some gem. Alloys will make tools and weapons harder to break (durability) Sharper and faster (efficiency ) I can even see thorns. As actual thorns outside an armor.
  4. Canoes

How old does a tread needs to be to be considered a necro? I think this idea is good and steel deserves attention. One way to manufacturer a canoe would be to place a log down and carve it with a ax. Maybe we would have a mode for the ax same as with the chisel only it would be the canoe mode. People say we don't need it because stone age is too short. I keep saying that it should be longer.
  5. pegs, nails, rivets, and mortar

I just started a tread about trowels here. So I was talking about the necessity of having mortar to place stone blocks. That got me thinking about nails to place wood blocks. I specially like dunks idea about a tools belt. As long as nails are not too expensive oi time consuming to make, I think it makes the whole process more believable. I don't think you should need nails to create a wood block, just to place it. So no changes to how we get the crafting table grid.
  6. Tool reworking

I like that you are trying to add the enchanting characteristics in a different way. I do not however think gems would be the way. It's the same as saying that they some how are imbuing the tools and weapons with magical powers, I think we have enough alloys in the mod to use in that manner. So for example blue steel would add fire protection and red steel would add fire aspect. We could think of alloys to recreate most of the vanilla enchantments. That would be a much better reward for high tier metals than red/blue steel bucket.
  7. I will be honest and say that i did not research the issue. But the pictures you showed are for modern structures. I am not sure if that is historically correct. When I see images of villages in remote places where people have no access to technology, people always build their houses with adobe walls and thatch or straw roofs. Again I may be wrong I have always lived on big cities and on brick houses. Don't you at least agree that adobe would be a stronger material than thatch specially if you are trying to protect yourself against zombies. Or in the case of the new update that we will have more dangerous animals, I dont see thatch wall strong against a bear.
  8. Body Temperature Mechanics and Implementation

I see what you mean. The truth is that when people first started using leather they would just scrape it. Until someone found that soaking in a lime solution would make it easier to scrape and help in preserving killing all bacteria. Maybe giving different names like calling the just scraped = scraped Hide. and the one that was soaked and scraped = scraped Leather. Just an idea someone my have a better.
  9. Tha's why i insist that straw as a construction material for walls is not believable or needed. sure you can survive a few days enough to find clay and make adobe.
  10. On the first day there is not enough time to build a hut anyways. you need sticks and wood and food. I always make a hole on the ground or against a hill. I rather believe that i would be safe from monsters in a hole on the ground than on a thatch house.
  11. Mushrooms in TFC

I really like that. I know we have a lot of other food sources but mushrooms Huuummm. yammy.
  12. As someone who has traveled I actually have seen adobe houses with straw roof. They use green straw of many different kinds it turns yellow after some time. there is no need to dry it first. As for adobe a simple recipe like the one used on extrafirma would suffice. I should add that to make more use of adobe and more believable would be to make thatch wall not resistant to mobs. You would only use it on the roof. So as far as early game goes you can only build a adobe hut with thatch roof. Also adobe is gravity effected but you can stack it to make walls. I think it adds to early game.
  13. Tree / Forest Improvements

Love all that. So no more breaking leaves to get saplings. Maybe a way to improve on the forestation thing would be to have to plant the seed on pots like is done now a days. After some time it would grow into what we now have as a sapling and only than it could be planted to grow a tree.
  14. Sticks & Stones

You right I have not considered that. I always end up with several chests of sticks. Actually a better suggestion would be to have a different way of getting saplings. since we have the coding for flowers and fruits on fruit trees I imagine ( no coder myself so forgive me ) it would not be so hard to code flowers and seeds on trees either on the form of fruit, nuts or pods.
  15. Ranching: tending to your animals

That's Ok but as any farmer knows you don't leave breading to luck. Farm animals are bread on purpose and only when wanted.
  16. More Wildlife, And A More Realistic Hunting Aspect

When playing TFC I like to pretend I am a castaway or stranded in another world. How hard would it be for any of us to actually kill a deer or any big animal? Maybe we would be able to kill small game, but even that would be hard. I have no idea how to emulate that in game but I think it should be more believable.
  17. Bellows In Forge/Blast Furnace GUI...

I usually don't advocate for automation of any process but anything that could make pumping the bellows less boring would be welcome.
  18. Buckets

Having a water table will make it possible for us to have wells. Maybe a use for water pumps as per my suggestion here
  19. stoneage, copperage, bronze age way to fast (modified)

The Mantra is Survival Mode as it should have been. It took humanity 200.000 years to go from paleolithic ( broken stone ) to neolithic ( polished stone ). I know the only thing that made all those ages take that long was knowledge. And there is no way to make the player forget all that he knows. But think about it. Suppose you are a astronaut stranded in another world very similar to earth. Or a castaway on a very large island. Your ship got destroyed and you have nothing. not even clothes. How long would it take for you to have a basic shelter and secure food source to even think about metals? How many of us would in real life survive the first days? Is ok for me if I dye a few times until i learn enough to survive.
  20. Cheese OP?

I am sorry to hear about your food allergies. Don't get me wrong. I understand how hard it must be for you in a world where most foods have some kind of dairy. I just don't think is in the scope of this mod to recreate all kinds of food allergies and illness that affect humanity. Remember believable not realistic. Also do we really want to add diseases to minecraft? This is a game we are supposed to have fun and not be reminded of all the hardships of real life. I for sure do not want to see my character suffering from black plague.
  21. Traps

I agree that having dozens of different footprints for all the different animals would look very nice. But I think in the end we have to consider how easy that would be to be implemented. That's the reason why I suggested having one footprint texture and using the right click to read the information on it. I rather have that than not having anything. So whatever makes more sense for the Devs.
  22. Body Temperature Mechanics and Implementation

The scraped hide we have need barrels witch need saw witch need metal. The scraped hide I am referring to is made just using a knife. A process used by cavemen when first started using hides. They will not last long but will warm you up. also can be used for leather strips. The second process used on hides was to stretch it using the brains of the animal. that gave elasticity to the hide. The third was to smoke the hide witch made it water resistant. all that was done before the use of metal. Actually tanning was also done before the invention of metal. But that's another discussion and I don't want to go there.
  23. I once played on a server for a whole month then some people started killing me and stealing all my stuff. It was not fun. There was no fight or anything, They just group and started raiding everybody. complaining to the moderators was a no because it was a PVP server. I learned my lesson no playing on PVP servers. It takes a long time to craft a armor and weapons. If people are not using PVP why have it on?
  24. Shears recipe

That's exactly how i think it should be. Terrafirmacraft is not realistic but it tries to follow how humanity developed technology. Most times people tend to downgrade neolithic achievements. That structure was a water well around 5200 BC using only stones no metal. So yeah stone knifes can do a lot more than people think.
  25. Body Temperature Mechanics and Implementation

I have included a picture of straw weaving to create a hat.
