      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I removed it, got this now

http://gyazo.com/c93...9db539c616618ae

That is a problem with the traincraft config file, replace the file with the one linked a few pages back, or find the post someone posted it and delete the whole thing and copy+paste it in there should fix you right up

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BznemTyzxmC_RmwyeEdOVDFaWDQ/edit?usp=sharing

and the copy+paste is just one page back, by shootme, if you'd rather go that route

What versions of the mods am I supposed to download? There is absolutely no instruction! I'm becoming enraged after each sub-sequential failure to install all the mods. Could someone just compile all the mods with the correct versions into a nice zip for me to download? I get anxiety from downloading this many mods. >->

I'll be here all night. Also, if you could be a doll and include the proper versions of the API and Forge as well, I'd be thankful.

that is against many of the rules of mod others as for the correct version look at the first post it tells you which one to download of each one next to the link.

It isn't like it will be some published modpack. I only need it for utility purposes, so I'm not as flustered downloading this huge load of mods. :U

I was having serious problems getting onto the server last time there was a crash, I removed completley everything and re added it, that let me in. I assume you've done that?

also try Multi MC instead, maybe that will work better for you

Ah, nevermind my previous statements. I had no idea I needed to place them ALL into the /mods folder. Hah, I'm silly.

All the vanilla iron in the original recipes has just been replaced with TFC wrought iron. So you can refer to the mod's minecraftforum page, and just imagine wrought iron instead of the vanilla variant.

Its a player api bug. You need to be using 1.6, but it could be that the server needs 1.6... Its an easy update I will do it asap but Bob might beat me to it

So...did the server, as it was so eloquently previously stated, poop itself again? Time of crash was about 8AM? PST if my math is not weak.

Mhm... looks like it has crashed again. I wonder what causes those frequent crashes.

Hello! I'm looking to join your server for a multitude of reasons. First off, the amount of mods that flavor the server are incredible. I honestly can't wait to ride a horse or train across the landscape. Second, player versus environment. This is a HUGE plus to my satisfaction. I've been on unregulated PvP TFC servers and been killed numerously by large factions in redsteel armour, and it would seem so very unfair. Plus, PvP would distract from community, which is my third reason. I'm VERY community based. In any game community, I tend to help out a lot and tend to the community's needs. I am able to adjust my living style to suit for a certain resource or project. I'm very multi-talented. Although I'm not too huge on the building in TFC, I'm sure it isn't too much to learn! Feel free to contact me if you'd like any more information or have any questions. My ingame name is as follows: RicksterCraft Thanks for reading! I can't wait! :D

Welcome to Roanoke! Please be respectful of other people's possessions!

I advise joining a community if you'd like to enjoy what our server has to offer.. being a loner is fun, but working with a team in TFC is much MORE fun! Trust me, I know firsthand!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SIDE NOTE!!!! IMPORTANT!!!

I isolated the error that was causing items to disappear on death (instantly, permanently!) and it has been addressed. It was a player api bug, and the newest version fixed it! We're now running Player API version 1.7 for Minecraft 1.4.6, just so everyone knows!

We confirmed in game that items are once again dropping on death... whew!

Sorry for that brief period of trouble there guys!

So there has been some discussion on the server lately and the main grievance is that there is little incentive to visit other's towns; everything can be made locally so there's no need to waste time going thousands of blocks by boat or foot. Additionally, the export system is (I assume) a huge strain on the admins and also allows one to make money with local exports. My personal thoughts on how to improve with added insight from various other members are as follows:

-More reason to visit other towns

Import/export NPCs or trade signs must be localized to entice people to travel to make money. One can make a giant gem farm but it's literally useless unless they travel to a certain town to trade it in. Additionally, creating a low sell price in one area and a high buying price in another could give rise to merchants increasing the traffic. Bbushh's awesome road system and the rail tunnels would have a lot more deserved attention. If automated, this should be a huge load off the admins. However all this would be useless without...

-Some way to spend the hard earned cash

Economies grind to a halt when the currency becomes less liquid. We can export a ton of dirt and build a house of coins to look pretty but beyond that, it has little use. Currently, the main money sink seems to be the purchase of chunks but without pvp, there is no reason to buy them. Whiterock is technically built in the wilderness but the chunks aren't purchased. It may be unpopular or against the ideals of the server but limited pvp should be allowed.

This is now just me pulling stuff out of my behind but what if...

1) Chunks have an upkeep cost scaling with nation size and become unprotected if payments aren't made. All unprotected chunks are subject to invasions (Invasion mod was mentioned). If the chunk is lost, the mod apparently keeps living things from surviving very long in there (and I guess the admins can blow off some steam with some TNT).

2) Players/nations can purchase an invasion on another town by starting bidding battle with the invading forces. The anonymous attacker enters an auction with the defending mayor. If the defender wins, there is no invasion and the attacker cannot attack for some cooldown period (but keeps the money). If the attacker wins, the invasion proceeds at some announced time and of course he pays. The defender should then put out a listing for mercenaries to help against the invasion (more reason to visit towns!). Griefing and actual pvp would still be prohibited but this gives a way to poke some fun at other people and put a sense of urgency into the game. If wanted, perhaps there is a reward for successfully attacking like stealing a NPC temporarily or taking a chunk out of their taxes? Of course the admins will have to be the leveler in this system so one town isn't crushed to dust with a series of invasions. Also, if the opposite happens and everyone is too nice, they will have to be the mean ones and start them.

So in conclusion, this series of suggestions are tailored to getting people to travel to towns. Supply/demand and designated import/export areas will make manufacturers and merchants both lucrative professions. Increased trade will make the public transport more useful and as a side-effect, make it more rewarding to make a pretty town (or a giant phallus in the sky to show off). Chunk purchase and upkeep would be a good money sink keeping inflation in check and invasions provide the incentive to pay the barbarian invaders their tribute. Additionally, a collective effort to repel an invasion will not only bring the players together, but also make everyone feel like they contributed to a town. After all, nothing keeps a community alive better than defeating an external enemy (admins' evil twins).

Other considerations: Vanilla bucket makes things too easy and I haven't seen anyone for its implementation. Thanks for the lava tower though (it makes my comfy hole more cozy). The punt handles "like a bale of hay with an anvil attached to the port side" -author forgotten. I personally feel that I could make a trip twice in the time it takes to sail the punt once.

Cheers!

I have to agree with some of your points, but not all..

For one, there are tons of gold sinks if players would take the time to look for them... More developed towns have more NPCs which allow for purchasing many items that are unobtainable in tfc. Travel to some foreign cities and see :)

I agree that the economy isn't perfect but its decent. I do agree that its quite a pain in my butt to collect items but with the /clear command its really not bad.

I am open to ideas but I don't like using npcs for selling very much.. It murders player to player trade..

You could counter with the current system does the same.. but I don't give good rates when you sell to an admin, a player would be much more accommodating, especially with quality tools and such

As for buckets.. theres issues with that, I agree.. I may make an adjustment to increase the difficulty a little bit

Good evening, I was hoping on joining this fine server as normal TFC has gotten a bit dull in my own regards, and I would love to have a multiplayer experience. I love the no PvP aspect as it allows for new players/members to set themselves up without the threat of losing everything. I look forward to a reply and hope that you have a fine day.
