There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. I think its odd that you make a flint tool, then get a lot of wood.

Lets think about what came before wood, Bones.

We can make bone tools, but where we do we get bones? Skeletons!?

My suggestion is:

Take away the ability to chop down wood with flint tools, and add Bone drop to every animal insted.

Will be alot more "realistic" in a simple manner.

Just like the first men, we will kill animals with the flint tools, giving us an edge over their claws and size.

Then take their bones to conquer the enviroment.

Bone tools maybe should also require leather to hold the flint?

I dont think this is a best idea, personally i dont like killing animals untill i set up a steady/functional farm... So i wouldnt like this idea to be implemented in TFC...

I thought this game was about getting better tools and survive, and you must kill animals for food.

If you are cheating, why even beta test this mod?

Quiet simple starving does kill you so it is quiet easy to survive a first few days and it aint hard to find wheat seeds, once you set up a steady wheat farm it all goes down hill.

...the point of this though is that Steve starts off pre stone-age. They did not HAVE agriculture back then. Agriculture should require some work to acquire, not be available on day 2. You're meant to go around throwing javelins into cows for the first few days

Okay, I don't think that Steve starts pre stone-age I honestly think he starts now and rather than there being a progression in time it would just be a progression in tools. Steve is stuck in the middle of nowhere so he is going to try to survive and eventually figure out how to do more things its just a sped up, cubic, survival situation.

If Steve were just abandoned in the here and now wilderness, he'd have a lot more knowhow than just 'Unga bunga me make-um pointy stick'. He'd be able to twist ropes, and manipulate complex objects easily. Yeah he'd have some items from the lower tech tree, but he'd also have access to a few upper-eschelon things as well, just by virtue of knowing about them right off the bat. And come on, the guy can fit 1728 cubic meters of material in his back pockets, you're telling me he can't bring along a PDA or Cell phone from wherever he got lost from? The fact that we start from absolute scratch is a big tell for me about this one

Let's not confuse Minecraft Steve with Terrafirmacraft Steve. Everyone knows Minecraft Steve can punch down trees and rip logs into planks with his bare hands. Terrafirmacraft Steve is less Chuck Norris and more MacGuyver, being able to accomplish great feats with naught but a piece of flint and a stick. Either way, though, without a research system in the game, Steve presumably starts the game knowing how to craft everything craftable. That being said, I like the idea of adding more uses for bone, but I don't like the idea of making bone a manditory step on the way to 'higher tiers,' as it were. I generally even skip wooden tools as the mod stands. I just get some sticks and flint and make my first real tools out of stone mined with a flint tool, and that's fine with me. I do like the idea of starting with nothing and working my way towards better and better tools, but I don't think a strict, arbitrary tiering system (e.g. flint->bone->wood->stone->tin->etc.) would add much to the game. I want to work with the best tools I'm able to make with available materials, not work towards level 3 tools because I currently have level 2 tools.

I agree that the tech tree is exactly that: a tree, and not a ladder. i think bone should be available as an option. I think personally that the gap between stone and metal is too big. I don't know if bone fits, maybe advanced stone, but I definitely think spending tens of minecraft days looking for sphalerite or cassiterite or bismuthinite because i can't get more than 3 mintues into a cave because I get owned by a skeleton because I only have 5 javelins and I used them already. So I think that maybe make bone as strong as stone is now, and make stone stronger? or something to fill the tech gap

I posted in the other topic but I guess it can be here to...

Ceramic pit, similar to the charcoal but you put ceramics in it and can make a bunch at time.

Skewer for the fireplace, animals like pig could be cooked in here. It would take some time but would generate more quantity of food(made 5 pieces of cookead pork). It would require that animals bodies could be a new item, perhaps after dying they would generate a "block" type similar to woodpiles but with the animal skin and you could pick it or open it with a knife and harvest some stuffs(meat, bones, guts(?!) and blood(if you have a bucket or some container). After cooking the animal-block-thing in the fireplace using the skewer interface it would leave bones.
