Only help if you can be helpful

Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running. You can do so by editing the OP, and then clicking on "Use Full Editor."

  1. Physical Smithing

My idea is, instead of the current anvil GUI, when you are forging basic, single ingot tools (like the pick, axe, or shovel), the heated ingot is pulled from the heat source with tongs, and placed on top of the anvil, rather than into an inventory. The player would then hit the ingot in various places using the hammer to change the shape of the tool, holding down the attack button for different lengths to change the hit strength. This would replace the red and green options in the current GUI. Information that is normally indicated by hovering with your mouse inside the inventory could be manually accessed by right-clicking the anvil (the only information displayed would be the ingot in a single-space inventory slot in the center and then metal type, shape, temperature, etc. displayed around it; alternatively, the information could be displayed on-screen as long as the player is looking at the anvil/ingot to display the same relevant information.
  2. Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes TFC Version #:0.79.20.710 Forge Version #:10.13.4.1448 SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer):Single Description:If I die (it's surprisingly easy to fall off trees) and keepInventory is true, the quiver, sealed barrels/ceramic vessels and anvils on my back disappear. It's not dropped and it's not in my inventory. Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No):Yes Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No):Yes If yes, which mods? PlayerAPISmart MovingSmart RenderCodeChickenCoreNEIFastcraftTerrafirmacraft NEI pluginVoxelmapLiteLoader But it still occurs without them. If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No):I don't have them, so Yes.
  3. Disappearing Double Ingots

While making double copper ingots for my copper anvil I noticed that one of the double ingots in my inventory would should up when I opened my inventory, but would not show up in my inventory when I was at the forge or anvil interfaces. I accidentally placed another double ingot on top of the inventory slot that the disappearing/reappearing double ingot occupied and that ingot was permanently lost. This same issue occurred minutes later when attempting to make my bismuth bronze anvil. After letting all seven of the double ingots cool in my inventory, I then tried to stack them and arrange them in my crafting grid to make an anvil. However, when they were stacked I only ended up with six double ingots. Not a game-breaking bug, but certain annoying.

  5. [Solved] Anvil broken?

Hello, So since Etho started playing this mod I thought i'd give it a shot aswell, currently i'm at the point of making my first metal armor piece but i'm stuck. I'm trying to make a bronze sheet, I have a bronze anvil, bronze hammer, and bronze double ingots but when I put in the double ingots at the right temp the UI doesn't update. The red arrow just stays at the beginning and nothing happens.I can use the hammer and it gives feedback that the ingots are worked but I'm unable to produce sheets. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Thanks.
  6. Splitting bloom crashes server v78.10

Splitting an iron bloom crashes the server. When the server restarts, the bloom did correctly split. Has happened 2 out of 2 times in b78.10Changes to the world may not save, for example I'd made a load of charcoal and put it in a chest, that was all gone since the world had not saved.
  7. Anvil Interface Crash

  8. Hey everyone, I wanted to bring up a glitch that I found in my time playing. You physically cannot make a Wrought Iron hoe on a Wrought Iron anvil. The steps make it impossible to do so by asking for three things "last". You can see what I'm talking about in the pictures below or in this album : http://imgur.com/a/kRWOw
  9. Anvil trouble

Hey guys I downloaded this mod several days ago, and I am constanly discovering more and more of the mod, which is great! Only problem is, getting my first pickaxe...I've deforestated every forest and killed every cow and sheep available, so it's time to mine.I've searched a DOZEN times for a smithing tutorial on how to use the (new, I think) anvil GUI, I can't figure it out :/I've gone through the whole process of collecting and smelting ore (bismuth in the picture) and created an ingot from the crafting screen (I saw ppl on YT do it very differently, like smith is, but I didn;t have to), also I created the plans for the pickaxe/prospick, and put them in the anvil GUI as shown in the picture. Yet no rules to be seen, the green marker doesn't move when I hit the green/red buttons. Also, I saw in earlier videos that the anvil GUI had pictures as where to put an ingot and where to put your plans. (I tried the ingot and plans on ALL fields, none worked). Im quite annoyed :/ Why doesn't it work?Hope some one can help me...

  11. Anvil + charcoal-placing bug

Heyo, made an account just to report this bug: Running build 76 hotfix 17, I right-clicked with charcoal on the block below a wrought iron anvil, placing the charcoal in the same block as the anvil. The charcoal replaced it, deleting the anvil (not dropped) but it did drop the ingots and hammer. Tested in creative and this behavior happens to all varieties of anvil. Be careful where you hold your charcoal, kids! I'm just glad I happened to back up my world very recently.
  12. Stone not changing into Anvil

Whenever I try to use a hammer on a piece of stone, I'm using marble in my main world, it won't change into an anvil. But when I try it on a different world and using creative mode I have spawn the stone from the creative menu to get it to work. I have used the hammer on the top of the stone like you are supposed to. Help?
  13. When you have a stone anvil (The one where you right click with the hammer on stone) And it gets blown up it will turn it into a copper anvil
  14. Help with the stone anvil?

And before you say anything I will say, it is a complete Bismuth and I got all the pieces, so tell me how to fix this. plz...
  16. [B66] Stone Anvils

Hi, since version 66 is still beta, are stone anvils broken, or I just don't understand how one is supposed to find an Raw Igneous Stone for an anvil if it's underground below other stones and rocks that can't be used as anvils? No pickaxe -> no deeper underground -> no Raw Igneous Stone anvils -> no pickaxe
  17. Stone Anvil Bug?

So I'm fairly new to TFCraft, and after smelting up my first zinc, I went and tried to form an ingot. When I went to open the stone anvil, my inventory was buggy, and when I put the ingot and the hammer in their correct slots, they get shot out, and the anvil turns back to stone. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be great
  18. Stone Anvil Problems

I wanted to see if anyone has tips/ tricks on getting it to work. Ive tried using my hammer everywhere and it just wont work. I know other people have had this problem too. Im hoping some of you have figured out a somewhat reliable way of getting it to work, and would share with me. Thank you
  19. Stone anvil

Every time I exit my game I can't use the stone anvil (yes, I'm using the stone block as an anvil and yes, I'm clicking it with a hammer) It worked fine the first game session I did it, but after that it just doesn't seem to work, can't get it to open up the anvil GUI.. I found a way to make it work again; I create a new world, make myself a stone hammer, dig down to stone and open up the anvil GUI. After that I exit to the main menu (not exit the game, cause that would break it again), delete the new world I just created and go back to my regular work. After I do that it works fine again, until I close Minecraft again Anyone else having this problem? It's very strange and quite annoying but I haven't seen mention of it on the forums, so I wonder what I'm doing wrong. I don't have any mods installed other than Optifine (smooth version).
  20. Please help... Anvil problem

I'm having a bizarre issue with my anvil... I have some unshaped tin and I put it in to work it, but (1) the top arrow doesn't move and the rules don't appear and (2) nothing happens when I hit the buttons on either side. However... when I get some unshaped tin from my NEI list, I can work it. Help please!
