      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Issue?

In our fork we just added a chat message. It is spammy, but was easy solution. This could probably be done in an addon. A status effect makes the most sense, but as dev of this version TFC has stopped it isn't going to be fixed.
  2. Holes in the Ground & Water

Yes those are TFC blocks that tick randomly. Water is vanilla and doesn't tick. You'd have to ASM it and not sure how that would effect performance.
  3. [Request API Feature]

All the body temperature and ambient temperature were half complete. The ambient temperature used to be calculated and displayed in F3. However it was an insane resource hog and when we disabled it in our fork we saw a huge performance boost on our server. So it was disabled in the official version.
  4. Issue?

    Yup.
  5. Holes in the Ground & Water

Yes that is what I meant by water not updated. It is equivalent to MCEditting it. The water block doesn't get a neighbor block change so doesn't flow. The same thing happens in vanilla, just less prevalent.
  6. Modded Ore Generation

Yes. You need a product. In TFC the liquid metals aren't actually liquids there is just molds filled with all possible metals with NBT. This is why I had an addon I was working on to add other ores and metals that behave like TFC. One of many reason we forked and modified TFC for our pack. If you want hardenedclay I have an addon called TerrafirmaStuff.
  7. Modded Ore Generation

That is what we did for our pack. The issue is they don't have qualities and as you said aren't smeltable in TFC itself. But as our metal ores were osmium, bauxite and tungsten it didn't matter. The other ores we added were minerals, so didn't matter.
  8. Holes in the Ground & Water

All you can do is reduce the rate of ravines in the config. The flowing water is just a consequence of the way generation works. Water exists before the ravines are created. The ravine creation doesn't update the water.
  9. Modded Ore Generation

    The reason.
  10. [Solved] nether — does it work?

    That is what we do.
  11. [Solved] nether — does it work?

The flint and steel was fixed for lighting top of block. The TFC flint and steel always worked, you just had to aim on side of obsidian. The nether is still broken, just not corrupting save broken. There are inventory sync bugs that persist until server restart. I believe there are some bugs with decay and environmental handlers as well.
  12. Legal question

Putting it in TFCOres will have it generate, but doesn't use any of the TFC code skinning the transparent portions with appropriate texture. There are some WIP addons that add in ores that do leverage TFC ore code. TFC-Tech does for Bauxite and I have a incomplete TechNodeTools addon that allows you to add ores and some other things.
  13. Unable to play LAN?

If you can provide the console log from when she starts up instance to when it won't allow her to join it may allow someone to help.
  14. No good map?

The odd grass texture is dry grass. Grass gets that texture when rainfall is 250 or less. Clay can't spawn when rainfall is 250 or less. The ores would be partly the rock type you find yourself in and part RNG. No connection to clay prevalence.
  15. vanila iron

My guess would be the fact many mods hardcode vanilla iron (and gold) in recipes instead of using ore dictionary value.
  16. Nice to see another pack. Just minor credit things. First I didn't write Better Storage, I just modified it and so the original author copygirl should be credited. For TFC you should also credit Dunk and Kitty.Bibliocraft is normally credited as Nuchaz, JDSinclair is his real name. Alternatively I'd suggestJoseph 'Nuchaz' Sinclair.Buildcraft was started by SpaceToad and has had many many authors since then. It is standard to credit the Buildcraft Team for it.
  17. Have you turned it off and on? If you don't provide a crashlog or console log there is no way for anyone to know that is wrong. It does work as it is in both our packs and has worked fine.
  18. huge ore veins but rare

I haven't checked that section of code, was just guessing based on you implying they still weren't very rare. The default type and large size are huge deposits that can cover more than 9 chunks. A single vein of that size would supply enough ore for a playthrough. So what I'd suggest is to go into TFCOre.cfg. Delete everything except one ore type. Set spawning to all rock types. Set rarity to 25. The play with the type vein/default, the different sizes and the density values to see what forms. Load up a creative test world run command /debugmode and then /stripchunk 3. Wait. This will strip a radius of 3 chunks around youto bedrock leaving the ores. Look at the formations to figure out what you like. Veins size is variable so look at a few. With default settings I've seen alarge gold vein with over 2500 ore blocks. As I said one way to reduce prevalence of ores is to further restrict what stone types they spawn in.
  19. huge ore veins but rare

First if I were to guess you are setting the rarity so high that it is breaking it and not giving you the rarity you want, although I haven't gone through the code to see for sure. Try setting it as a more reasonable number. 500 would give an average of 1 vein of an ore per 500 chunks. Now to reduce the rarity of the ores you could reduce the stone types they will spawn in. Instead of it having Igneous Extrusive you could just list a subset of the IgEx stones. You could also change the max height of the ores so that they only spawned down lower. Just don't do that for ores that are only in sedimentary stone or you'll never find them.Lastly the one way you can play with the vein size is by changing the type from vein to default and setting the size to large. This is what bituminous coal uses and its veins are huge. Then just play with the density and such to see what style of vein you can generate.
  20. Quick question about crop growth speed

The default year length for TFC is actually 96 days per year, the pack obviously set it higher. The default crop growth is 1.0. The growth rate of crops automatically scales for year length. At 1 you'll get 1 harvest per year in most areas. At -13000 it will be close though. South, were there is little to no snow you can plant all year and get 2 harvests of crops (some even 3), but you'll get a lot more decay. Word of warning it is highly recommended that youdon't change year length in an existing save. Things in TFC depend on total world ticks. Shortening shouldn't break many things, but lengthening can bug out animals.
  21. [TFC 0.79.29.922] TerrafirmaPack

Build 8.1 TFC 0.79.29.922 Added Mods: Build 8.0 TFC 0.79.29.922 - TerraFirmaPumpkins by Peffern - TFCPewter by Peffern Updated Mods: TerraMisc to 0.13 Automated Bellows Add-on to 1.1a Better Foliage 2.0.14 Railcraft 9.12.2.0
  22. cast iron?

The suggestion section for TFC in 1.7.10 is locked because this version is no longer being developed or maintained. Any suggestions should made for TFC2.
  23. unable to launch minecraft with mod installed

That is not the latest forge, it is actually a very old version. Use forge v10.13.4.1558, which is the version this TFC was built with.
  24. Offer support for galacticraft...?

TFC has serious issues with other dimensions. Even the nether and End do not work with TFC. To make other dimensions work would require a significant rewrite of the TFC code. TFC for 1.7.10 is no longer being developed or maintained. The only reason a new build will be released is if there is a major game breaking bug found, which is highly unlikely. There was a fix put in quite a while ago that prevented save corruption due to traveling to other dimensions, however there are still serious bugs. So unfortunately GC will now be compatible with TFC in 1.7.10, which is why modpacks don't have it. Whether other dimensions will work with TFC in 1.10+ is unknown at this time.
