      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. What does a stone's type have to do with where it spawns?

It's bound to biome, but I don't know if there's a strict biome = rock type, or just that whenever a new biome is spawned it sets a random rock type.
  2. water level setting

If such setting comes, it could be enough with just one alternate setting with high water. Doesn't have to be a slider or fully customizable, just set between 140 (or whatever it is now) and 160, should make a severe difference on the terrain.
  3. Getting Mo's Creatures to work with TFC, has anyone made it?

Well they're not COMPLETELY immune, they just take like 50+ swings from an iron sword lol but fire to chainmail is a weird detail in minecraft itself, not part of Mo's.
  4. Localization

dukejuke, we don't even normally use the word "bokmål", we say "skriftspråk". It's the norweigans that talk about bokmål I think.
  5. Magic

As long as they don't make it require less work than the mundane version it won't be overpowered. Magic can be made to be balanced, basically by being only circumstantially useful. If you normally take 10 minutes to heal X and you can spend 20 minutes gathering resources and doing alchemy to get a magic potion that heals 1/2X over one minute, it might be useful in some circumstances but not extremely overpowered. Just as an example.
  6. Lurkers

When hearing the name, I immediately got thinking about Chokers from D&D. Description (from Pathfinder): Underground predators that often dwell on the outskirts of subterranean ruins or in the deep shadows of nameless cavern outposts, chokers lurk in the darkness and lash out with their long, rubbery arms to grasp prey as it passes by. They seldom attack multiple enemies at once, stalking their quarry until they can isolate a weaker victim from its pack. Chokers walk with a disturbing, almost comical gait due to their extremely limber legs. Weighing only 35 pounds and standing no taller than a halfling, chokers have no problem skittering across walls and ceilings, often lodging themselves into shadowy corners, tunnel intersections, walls, or staircases. A choker will attempt to grasp creatures of almost any size, but prefers lone prey of its size or smaller. Chokers appear to have little culture of their own, gathering only briefly to mate before their wanderlust and hunger spurs them again to a solitary existence. Their just-better-than-animalistic intelligence grants them a fascination with the trappings of society even if they do not truly understand it. Accordingly, the grubby lair of a choker (often situated in a difficult-to-reach nook or cranny) usually contains valuable objects such as rings, brooches, cloak clasps, and loose coins gathered from devoured victims. This fascination occasionally compels a choker to abandon its subterranean home for a closer study of the sunlit world's many civilizations. These chokers feel most at home in the darkened narrow alleyways of human cities, squeezing themselves into sewers, forgotten alcoves, barrels, and similar cramped, overlooked spaces. Chokers prefer to keep hidden during the light of day, emerging from their hidey-holes under cover of darkness to hunt for food and cruel pleasure. Favorite tactics include using their long arms to scoop prey off the street from the safety of a nearby rooftop, attacking sleeping families by squeezing through an open chimney, or tapping on a window to bring their curious food within grasping distance. PICTURE It feels like the perfect fit for minecraft monsters. And they're OGL, as far as I know, so there's no legal issue with copying them straight off (or I don't think it is, I'm not that knowledgable about what the OGL actually says, just that it allows one to copy stuff)
  7. Magic

If magic comes into the game, I hope it's gross. Eating eyeballs, bloody sacrifices etc. EDIT: I think a lot of folklorish magical stuff would work very well. For example, in swedish folklore, there's the "milk-hare" (or bjära), a homunculus-like thing made of yarn and blood that stole milk and other things for it's crafter. Similar to the Tilberi, which could also work and fits both my tastes of folklorish witchcraft and being gross: tilberi
  8. About meals

However, there should be some benefit to having a proper meal rather than just carrying around a stack of roasted beef.
  9. Getting Mo's Creatures to work with TFC, has anyone made it?

While they aren't normally biome-based (which is fixed with forge mob controls), you can set them to lower spawn rate (though there seems to be a bug with the snakes where they're just everywhere or not at all). For the other creatures, I find Mo's works excellent (though I would've preferred if surface ogres defaulted to Hard difficulty only).
  10. [WIP] Mod Conversion/Creation Hub

How's it going to work with a RP tfc patch when RP itself isn't done for 1.4.5 yet? EDIT: Oh wait, sorry about that, apparently it is now.
  11. Localization

Google translate usually works decently with swedish - while it doesn't produce a good-looking text, it more often than not gets the point across.
  12. New custom mobs, no minecraft mobs

Thought you'd prefer a hydra. A swamp hydra that lives underwater would be quiiiiite awesome.
  13. Mineral Storage

BTW, if you want more effective storage - why not turn them into ingots? I've never gotten enough to check how many ingots stack, but I assume it's at least 8 - which is 32 ores, or 128 small ores. Isn't that enough in a single slot in a chest?
  14. Mineral Storage

You can store them in chests. I was actually hoping it'd get a bit harder to store mineral ore effectively, making storing it more like storing logs. EDIT: A 2-block chest holds up to 288 large ores or double the amount of small ores.
  15. So the world doesn't end 50 meters below the surface?
  16. Getting Mo's Creatures to work with TFC, has anyone made it?

Hehe! Well, I managed to play with atmosmobs in single player (where the lack of life matters) so that solved the monotomy a bit.
  17. New custom mobs, no minecraft mobs

That's a really cool explanation, actually. Kudos for that.
  18. Question of Time.

Nice. I've noticed that since I started playing TFC, among the first things I do on a new save is go for a book & quill to jot down interesting coordinates. I assume I'll have to do the same thing for important dates! Thanks a lot.
  19. Question of Time.

Nice. Does it work for unloaded chunks too? (that has been generated to begin with, I mean).
  20. Mining explosives and powder bombs?

I always more natural hazards just for the challenge, tbh. Even if we can't use the gas for anything it'd be awesome just to have to watch out for it. Maybe there could be some kind of crop that grows better in methane-heavy environments.
  21. New custom mobs, no minecraft mobs

I must say, I have a hard time seeing creepers as natural habitants in that I can't really understand how they'd place themselves in the ecosystem. Blowing yourself up might make sense for any kind of flock/herd/swarm/group animal that are quite far down in the food chain, and maybe for hunting group animals if only a small minority of them blew themselves up (like wasps), but for quite solitary beings that are among the largest creatures around, I just can't see it.
  22. New custom mobs, no minecraft mobs

Personally, I have no issues with the supernatural in a mod like TFC - the draw for me is challenge, verisimillitude and believability more than strict realism. Thus the giant spiders aren't such a big issue, but hordes of undead in a place with no other humans kinda break the believability, as do creepers. But regardless, I hope that Bioxx, when the game leaves the beta phase, works with Daveyx0 at AtmosMobs to make those fully compatible - they have what you mentioned (except snakes so far) there and much other things.
  23. Realistic chicken drops and arrow crafting

This. Simply renaming the item to "feathers", possibly changing the texture a bit to reflect it, would do wonders. On the rock and stick part, i've always assumed not the whole rock or stick was used for an arrow. I mean, a stick solid enough to work as a pickaxe handle is probably a fair bit to heavy for an arrow.
  24. Yule Logs

It'd be awesome with christmas decorations lol, maybe just a reskin of the the pine "leaves" so that on christmas they've got those red globes in them.
  25. Question of Time.

as a followup question, is time calculated when you're sleeping? I realize this mod doesn't have anything like Somnia, but for the long-term stuff such as this, is it based on waking minutes or on the day count?
