ATTENTION Forum Database Breach 03/04/2019
There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again. -
This forum is now READ ONLY! 01/20/2020
As of this post and forever into the future this forum has been put into READ ONLY MODE. There will be no new posts! A replacement is coming SoonTM . If you wish to stay up-to-date on whats going on or post your content. Please use the Discord or Sub-Reddit until the new forums are running.
Any questions or comments can be directed to Claycorp on either platform.

Im running MultiMC and FastCraft. Whenever I try to do anything, MultiMC spits this out and the whole thing crashed. Anyone know what's causing it or how to fix it?

You can carry lit torches in your inventory indefinitely. Since I play nomadically until i have bronze stuff, this doesn't affect my play style particularly. Once I settle down and make a big house I'm sure it will be annoying, but if you think about, by the time you have a big house you're sleeping during the night anyway. I think it's fine (but I would advocate for some sort of (more) permanent light source so that people could do underground bases if they wanted to).

I'm not going to put the IP in the main forum, so send me a PM with your IGN and skype, and I'll give you the IP.

Okay, the Server has been opened and everyone is whitelisted. It's Communist CoOp but I won't be around for the very start. Maybe a few hours from now I'll go on.

Ok. Server is up. PM me with your mc name and i'll give you the IP. Yes I have heard of FTB, used to play it quite a lot. Yes I've done technofirma, no I'm not interested in doing it again.

Great! I'll add you on Skype. PM me for the Server IP.

Just post here, if enough people show up I'll give out IP over PM. I'll add you on Skype.

I like the name. What country will it be hosted in?
What Name? My name?
I'm in the United States (GMT - 5 Time Zone).

Server will run TFC and TFC only (no smart moving, simply horses etc. etc.)
Server will be whitelisted.
Server will be Communist Co-op (share resources, living space, etc.)
Server will have 100% uptime (ideally, unless my cpu breaks/power outage).
*Server will be on dynamic IP, so IP may change*
I am looking for people who want to do Communist Co-Op with me, possible nomad challenge. I play mostly on weekends, but will be around some afternoons. I'll be pretty busy once the school year starts. If anyone is interested, post in the thread. If enough people do it, PM me for the server IP once I set it up. I'm looking for 3-5 people. Too many and the resource drain on the co-op is too high.
[EDIT 9/1/14]: Server has been up pretty much continuously, with one minor outage when my CPU shut down. There are a couple regulars on the server so far. If you want to get on the server, PM me with your IGN so I can whitelist you. Even though I already have about 6 people. anyone is free to come on so long as they don't log off with important items in their inventory/actively destroy property/etc.
BTW, it took me 2 years to figure out, but I got the crop on my profile image correctly.
[EDIT 9/7/14]: Power has returned, server is back up.

A couple of notes: first, make sure TFC is installed currently and correctly (as was stated) and make sure to make an actual knife, not a knife head, and target tall grass, not crops, grass blocks, seaweed, reeds, or sugarcane (or flowers).

Given the recent revamp to the way food behaves, I'm totally okay with this. Though I'm still sort of starving to death for three (game) days straight on two of my recent startup attempts
Try roaming. Remaining in one area can diminish your stock of food (not to mention limiting your ore capabilities and finding things like flux and clay) unless you have multiple people, so keeping on the move can allow you to find new sources of food in wild crops and animals.

Another strategy is to set the year length to something huge like 120000000 when you log off, then set it back to normal when you return. This will stop the progression of seasons. Crops and animals will still tick normally, so if you have chickens you will return to the ungodly sound of a few thousand roosters every morning but it's better than losing all of your crops because of the winter.

Ever since updating to 78.17, I've noticed that when breaking blocks with a pickaxe, the block will reappear after being broken without dropping an item, then breaking again a few seconds later and dropping an item. I'm using a shadermod but I have shaders disabled. Does anyone know what's causing this or how to fix it?

Basically, the firepit needs to keep burning throughout the entire length of the charcoal burn time. The firepit will pull logs from a log pile directly on top of it, but if that log pile is only partially full, it may run out of fuel. Again, putting an additional 4 logs in the pit itself can help buffer.

I thought gypsum always spawned with at least one other ore. Someone back me up on that.

That should be working. As was said, unless one of the blocks adjacent to the charcoal is not stone/the pile isn't actually full (ghost block).

The rules only refer to the last 3 actions taken. So "hit last" means that the last action must be a hit. "hit not last" means one of the two actions that ISN'T the last one must be hit.
so "hit last, hit not last" is either something-hit-hit or hit-something-hit.

You can hit stuff with the propick to determine if its an actual ore block. Also, you may be encountering some scattered sphalerite blocks away from the actual vein (happened to me). once you hit the actual vein you'll be good to go.

Meh, saturation seems like a good enough motivator for me. I've been smithing through the night and almost starved to death more than once.

They don't, but you will probably need a forge which does.
Trapdoors will not stop rain from getting on the forge, so making the chimney bent can prevent the rain from getting.

You can use 7 rose gold ingots to make an anvil, but it's honestly not worth it unless you have an abundance of copper.
What you should do is focus on making copper and bronze tools, and saving your extra bronze as ingots, when you have 14 use a stone anvil to make them into 7 double ingot and make a bronze anvil.

REFINED blooms < 100% (produced by splitting a Refine bloom >100% that is not a multiple of 100%) can be melted in the forge to make a partial ingot that can be combined with other partial ingots.
RAW blooms <100% (produced when your total bloomery output is less than 100%) have to be thrown back into the bloomery with more charcoal and ore until it surpasses 100%.

Bee boxes. Need to be a thing. Either by scooping and displacing bees, or by placing the box nearby and baiting it or something, I don't know. But we definitely should be able to make bee boxes and keep them and farm them for honey and wax. Also, in 79 there is now taste on every food, so maybe the honey that comes out of the beehives could be dependent on what flowers are nearby. So you could deliberately get a certain type of flower to get your honey to taste slightly different.
