      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. I have gone through 2 breeding sessions with pigs, cows and sheep. First round pigs worked, first round cows and sheep did not. Then a patch came out and the cows worked on round 2 but still no sheep. Waiting for round 3 to finish to see what happens.

  2. Chicken breeding has been turned off until a proper solution to egg laying can be implemented. This was in IRC a few revisions ago, not sure if it has been changed since, haven't really tried.

  3. I am a bit biased and will probably be promptly ignored for it because I play single player, but...

The only thing I dislike is how much digging is involved in finding ores. Well... how long you spend digging to find ores. I wouldn't mind digging out the thousands of blocks if it didn't take untold hours to do it. My last world, I spent a RL week prospecting a whole gabbro layer for garnierite and only found 15 pieces and that was 2 separate veins. I can't even tell you how many steel picks/pro picks I used doing that. At least with this build there are more things to do that don't take so long, but by the time it comes to find higher tier ores, it will be back to the same old boring grind again. I love the rest of the game, just the ore hunt kills it for me.

I would like to see picks have double mining speed with half or quarter of the durability, and smaller veins that are closer together. Less reward and more resources to get there, but you are more likely to find a little something in one nights playtime rather than going a week or more before you find a vein so big you will never use it all.

That's my 2 cents, just leave my change on the counter.

  4. I like the handful of sticks idea for fuel. Would be great for a quick meal heat-up without having to waste a log. I have way too many sticks with no use. Even after fences and ladders, I am still overrun with sticks!

  5. Make sure the jar file in libraries/net/optifine/optifine/1.6.2_HD_U_B4/  is named exactly like this...

    optifine-1.6.2_HD_U_B4.jar

With the lowercase optifine and the dash after it instead of the underscore.

    Hope that helps!

  6. You need to make a copy of the forge version and rename that folder to OptiForge. In that folder is where you change the name of the jar and json files and edit them. This way you have the 2 vanilla folders and the edited OptiForge folder.

  7. Use Word Pad if possible, it will give you a better layout. Put the above code right after this line...

    	    { "url": "http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/, "name": "net.minecraftforge:minecraftforge:9.10.0.xxx" },
The beginning of the file should look something like this when done...

    {	"minecraftArguments": "--username ${auth_player_name} --session ${auth_session} --version ${version_name} --gameDir ${game_directory} --assetsDir ${game_assets} --tweakClass cpw.mods.fml.common.launcher.FMLTweaker",	"libraries": [ { "url": "http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/, "name": "net.minecraftforge:minecraftforge:9.10.0.xxx" }, { "name": "net.optifine:optifine:1.6.2_HD_U_B4", "serverreq": false }, { "serverreq": true, "name": "net.minecraft:launchwrapper:1.3" },
Also, don't forget to change the id at the bottom of the json file.

  8. I did that also. I think I figured it out though. Seems to work now.

I had to name the original file that I put in the libraries/net/optifine/optifine/1.6.2_HD_U_B4 folder from

    OptiFine_1.6.2_HD_U_B4.jar

    to

    optifine-1.6.2_HD_U_B4.jar

Notice the lowercase "optifine" plus the dash instead of underscore right after "optifine"

  9. Tried this but I keep getting this error, and yes I tried spelling it with your caps version and with the version suggested in the error...

Gave up trying to download https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/libraries/net/optifine/optifine/1.6.2_HD_U_B4/optifine-1.6.2_HD_U_B4.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'Job 'Version & Libraries' finished with 1 failure(s)!

Any ideas? I may be confused about your instructions on the versions folder page. I don't see where you said to create a new folder under versions but you mentioned some duplicate folder so I just copied the forge one and renamed the folder, jar and json to Optiforge.

  10. Finally, regarding 3), I am planning to abandon a server-wide currency (we use iConomy now) in favor of either nothing, or whatever TFC will have built in. The question isn't so much "what should the currency be," but "what can I do with the massive stockpiles of money people have accumulated to fairly give them something proportional in the new world." It doesn't have to be currency, even; it could be blocks, food, tools, anything. Heck, it might even be nothing at all, if that's an option you folks think would work best. I could even just say the banks broke down in the social dislocation caused by bladdy blah, and now too bad your money's gone. But preferably with a bit more tact than that.

Again, thank you all for your comments, this is a really interesting discussion to have.

Not sure exactly how big your cities are, but if you are abandoning currency you could assign a value of the structures on the vanilla server and assign a value of blocks on the TFC server and raise each players currency stockpile by their structure value. In essence you are buying their structures from them. Then have them "purchase" TFC blocks from you with their stockpiles to rebuild their cities.

This lets them decide on material conversion. It might suck to have to rebuild the city but at least it will be the way they want it and they wouldn't have to mine the materials all over again. After the stockpiles of currency are gone, don't distribute any more on the TFC server and you now have your cities. If you are going to do schematics anyway, you could easily get a count of all the different block types in each structure to assign the value plus maybe a bit extra for time spent building.

I would limit what they can and cannot purchase in TFC mode though. I wouldn't let them purchase higher tier tools, but would allow them lower tier so they can remove misplaced blocks while they rebuild. As far as a back story you could just say an earthquake destroyed everything and here is your insurance money to rebuild lol.

  11. It depends a lot on if I am unable to die, or just no longer age but can still be killed. It also depends on if everyone else is in the same situation. I don't want to be around if the human race dies off and there is noone left to talk to. I also don't want to be stuck in a situation where I was entombed, imprisoned or enslaved for eternity because I am unable to die.

  12. It really depends on the ore. Some ores take longer to heat up so you will burn more charcoal during that time. Also some ores require the use of the bellows which also burns more charcoal. Just have to experiment yourself as we aren't allowed to post exact numbers on the board for things like this.

  13. The post is actually a suggestion, not a support request. Also, it has been reported multiple times in the support forum so telling people to make more posts is quite useless.

  14. Sorry, but why do you need Douglas Fir so bad?

Edit: I like how 4 people are hanging out in the thread about trees.

The dark Douglas Fir logs make a good looking building resource with lighter materials.
