      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Remove F3

I like coordinates, because while baseline directions would be possible, I'd rather focus on playing what is already a good challenge of a game (not to mention the damn near impossibility of finding anyone else in SMP). Also, for those looking for ways to navigate without the use of very frequent landmarks, the method is fairly simple: note the direction of the rise and fall of the sun and moon and base any directions given off of that. "Follow the sunrise until you hit the basalt mountain and then travel by boat with the moon setting on your left shoulder.
  2. Iron and steel nails

stick + axe = handful of wooden pegs
  3. I have visions of underground TFC nightclubs fueled by the dancing lights of arrays of mushrooms.
  4. Rip-off?!

I wish you the best of luck with this.
  5. Plan Compendium

    Storeception?
  6. Plan Compendium

Yup, that would work for me.
  7. Seed pouch

I personally attempt to keep my jimmies unrustled to begin with, much more comfortable that way you know.
  8. To go back to my original point, mushrooms are awesome and while I've heard tell somewhere on this site that the dev team has no desire for people to live underground existences, it would still be a nice alternative to the topside dweller lifestyle.
  9. Seed pouch

I apologize if I wasn't more clear, but this is basically what I meant. Either way though, it's still an object that would have to be made for temporary use that wouldn't contribute in the long run to the mod. It's definitely not my call, but it seems a far stretch that Bioxx or Dunk would be motivated to actually code something for temporary use to alleviate an incomplete system in game (saltpeter anyone?)
  10. Seed pouch

Putting in a seed pouch as a placeholder until seeds in the world are more distinguishable due to actually having a source sounds like a very nice waste of time to the developers. There are however others suggestions for generic containers that have been fleshed out pretty well. You could always raise one of them back up.
  11. Photosynthesis is only one means of plant survival. Plants can and have lived without the sun in many places on earth, probably since they've been around. Otherwise a single event that shrouded the entire earth would have destroyed all plant life as we know it. One such example of this is the chemosynthesis used by plantlife surrounding geothermal vents. Also, Plump Helmets are a type of mushroom. Mushrooms have been contested to be plant and animal in the past, but are currently classified as fungi. They don't contain chlorophyll and don't take part in photosynthesis, as they get the nutrients needed from whatever they're growing on in a parasitic fashion.
  12. Seed pouch

If you need the seed pouch that bad just download the backpack mod. They even have different colored backpacks I believe.

  14. Anyone know how to make chainmail?

Using an ax and hammer, you could cut heated sheet metal into long strands of metal, and those strands down into lengths suitable to bend into rings for chainmail. This would obviously take a lot of axe durability, and would be tedious as sin since you'd have to bend each ring to add to the armor piece. But it could be a simple and straightforward means of armoring. Benefits would be that there's nothing really to fail by crafting it so you know you'll get armor at 100% durability for the same amount of material, but the downside is it would probably take long to put together and would provide slightly less armor value.
  15. Iron and steel nails

You'd effectively have to start a thread, post a few times and then get it locked before it derails since time is your true enemy there. You're gonna need a minimum post goal though, otherwise you could say any post locked after the first entry is a success, and we all know that's just a lie.
  16. Metamorphic Stone?

Throw in some willow planks and you're cooking with pig fat.
  17. Redstone (And How It Should Work)

Instead of calling something electricity or kinetic energy, we could always just refer to it as energy, and the means of utilizing it in the game would be by combining cinnabar dust with a gem and a gem setting, making essentially an energy battery. From that battery you could make whatever basic machines or devices that would be allowed. Examples of ways to capture energy would be largely based on the gem used. For instance; rotating one mounted jade by a series of others using something like a waterwheel or windmill, using a lightning rod to attract lightning during storms to then be stored in mounted topaz, submerging mounted sapphires in moving water, cooking a mounted ruby in a firepit or forge. Uses for this energy could be anything from basic movement and powering, such as current redstone, use in a more sophisticated enchantment system, or even in a basic magic system if that's somewhere the mod is going.
  18. Rip-off?!

Sure thing boss. No offense meant, I'm sure.
  19. Rip-off?!

If anything I think it's good advertizing because, let's face it, Terrafirmacraft is doing it first and they're doing it better. If the creators of Terrafirmacraft have inadvertently made a new subcategory of Minecraft that others want to start emulating, it means more people coming to look for the real deal.
  20. Gem Cutting

It seems like if gems naturally exuded their essence then you'd find random explosions or frozen spots while mining, god forbid you mine a piece of ruby, you'd spend the next few weeks growing those eyebrows back. The two ways I see it though is either the gems are trapped power that is then directed by the actual will of the user (thus the need for them to be embedded on something in order to use said magics) or they're a magical focus used to direct the powers of the user in specific ways (thus the need for them to be embedded on something in order to use said magics) Of course, if Bioxx and Dunk were to go in the direction where you just inherently have magic abilities and gems were a way of magnifying them, that would be another option, but that seems a bit far of a stretch from what we've all come to know as a mod with believable built in. Guess we'll find out.
  21. Gem Cutting

If they were to implement a few more slots, one option would be to make it so you choose between a piece of jewelry that possibly contains an enchantment of some kind, or a piece of armor that makes you a heavier melee type. This would help diversify combat roles on SMP to be sure.
  22. Weapon/tool 'finishing'

I'd be a liar to say I knew anything about coding, but couldn't weapons and armor be coded to be exceptions to the rule and to store 3 bytes rather than 2, or is it so intrinsically tied together that separation is impossible?
  23. Weapon/tool 'finishing'

Couldn't enchantments be saved for things of a more magical nature and this sort of thing be used to flesh out weaponcraft and finishing?
  24. House Ideas/Designs/Styles

Ocean Crossroads A small bridge based town of one that supports a bridge running from the spawn continent to another further north. This is the main home where I live, but there is also a tree field and two guest houses for people who travel through the area. I've used willow planks, white elm planks, willow support beams, and oak stairs. An eventual barracks and vault will be comprised largely of basalt and willow planks. Including both north and south bridges, the main home, the guest houses and the island terraforming at the center, it took about 1.5 days worth of work (including establishing metal industry for tools), so maybe a 3 of 10 in difficulty.
