      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Rum really doesn't require steam power to make, and it is perfectly feasible in TFC's current timeframe. It just happens that the exact thing we call rum today developed on earth past the 1500s, but that was really only because Europe didn't start heavy colonization of the Americas until later than the 1500s, but Rum could have easily been around if the Americas became widely colonized in the 1300s. And since TFC isn't locked into Earth's history, there isn't really a good reason to not include it because of the time period.

So, rum should definitely be in TFC if alcohol gets in. If it gets left out, how am I supposed to be a swashbuckling pirate?

Pirates, roaming the seas (boats) , with their piles of gold and gems on board (placeable items/in game sotage) drinking their rum (alchohol).....much fun, very much fun indeed.

EDIT: before raging, this is my imagination going haywire, instead of killing me just say why not :D

speaking of steampower dunk, should that be added, would that prolong the era of MC to the Victorian era? because it'd actually allow to open the opportunity for stuff like trains, boats and steampowered boats, (i fear for everything i say here) guns, cannons, any development made up to the 1700's including RUM :D (y is the rum gone?) and allow for MANY types of different steam-powered new developments :D

If only the technologic era would span up to only 1930... Anyhow, please do not mention something of this again. You're luckly I'm in a generous mood, as I might have unleashed France on you...

Man I'm in a good mood today. I'll tell you something but I need to make something clear:

THIS IS NOT A CONFIRMED FEATURE, MERELY AN IDEA I AM APPROACHING BIOXX ABOUT IN THE FUTURE. I WOULD TAKE THIS TASK ON MYSELF.

I would like to talk to Bioxx about an alternative to redstone, but that would fit with the theme of TFC and be late game. It would have to be able to transfer energy into mechanical power over distances and be late game and here is what I have come up with: steam power. We are already planning on implementing lead pipes to transport liquids, and this idea builds on that with adding brass boilers, valves and gauges to implement a full steam power mechanism. Boilers create steam which travel through lead pipes. Valves act as toggle-able switches to stop the flow of steam power when the system is active. Guages allow you to check the steam pressure inside a pipe and certain combinations will allow pipes which are toggled off until the steam is at full pressure, allowing for repeating mechanisms. Steam pressure would allow you to activate pistons for moving blocks (and possibly pumping bellows) or activate steam turbines to turn axels which could turn a quern, hoist rope or maybe even activate a turn crank on a lift-rail system to haul minecarts of ore up inclines. What I want to accomplish with this is threefold: replace redstone with a more logical alternative; implement a late-game feature that allows you to build more and expand after you get the late-game metals and create more uses for currently useless metals such as lead and brass.

Bioxx doesn't want to talk about it now.

My only concern is over lead pipes. Maybe re-enacting the fall of the Roman empire is a bad idea? Lead poisoning is not a fun thing.

As for someone discussing alcohol, I think it's viable if the whole water-level system becomes a survival issue. Alcohol is found in every society dating back before things like bread, because it's often the only source of drink when clean water is unavailable. There is no reason to put it into TFC unless two things happen: it becomes possible to die of thirst, and it becomes possible to contaminate water.

Considering how much work this would be, I'm not sure if they should bother with alcohol...

-The Romans knew that lead pipes can be quite deadly. They kept it around because lead seems to make the taste of wine significantly(?) better.

-Don't forget the diseases and bacteria running around in there like a biological weapon. Unless you have immunities to tap water, prepare to have the worst cases of dynestery.

-I disagree; alcohol SHOULD be significant in TFC. Take a look at World History; The Triangle Trade had imports and exports of sugar, slaves, and alcohol in a working cycle. The Plymouth Landing was caused by a shortage of alcohol. Even take a look at the beginnings of civilization. Alcohol, from my knowledge, played a major role in our history. Even Mister Madflavius procured a highly detailed alcohol suggestion. We should have alcohol in MineCraft; it holds great importance to many a culture.

Since I am a FanFiction Author (I recently implemented a link in my signature), I thought 'maybe it's better if I use Verdana rather, because every Fanfiction in the site uses Verdana, and I favor the font'.

EDIT: the fanfics are good, no. amazing. Yes, they are of the best fanfictions I have seen. I do not really read a plethora of fanfictions, but I have read quite a few here and there.

Oh yeah, just found it. if you store wine in lead the tartaric acid the wine contains, will form a lead-salt and this salt is very sweet. Thats why it gets sweet, just wanted to add that.

Maybe because we exxagerated with the derails. This time for real. And also we keep suggesting NPCs and propick changes. All this together can be very annoying.

I can see the derails part, kinda. But the whole NPC thing was a bunch of newcomers (and Menoch) that wasn't the entire community, a lot of us tried to solve the problem and fight against the whole NPC swarm thing...

Ok, let me be clear, I'm not arguing against what the staff are doing, at all. And I can completely understand why these things are annoying, even from my point of view the NPC insanity had me very annoyed and derails aren't what they used to be, they have become meme wars.

I was just seeking a little more information, because, as far as I know, there is only crysyn's post, which only made me confused. So yeah, what exactly is this new strike/warning system thing, and how does it work?

Alright guys I am leaving this post here in its form as a bit of a warning/example. You may be wondering why I did not simply delete and remove all posts like I have done before to clean up a topic that has gone way way off topic.. The simple fact of the matter is this. We expect you to use this particular part of the forums for being suggestive BUT ON TOPIC of the mod and things for it. What I am not going to do THIS time and THIS time only is give every person who has a deleted post up there 5 warning points PER POST (And guess what happens to people who fill up their warning bar?).

This takes time out of my life because people feel here is the time and place to waste time in their lives. Go poke around the other forums, go chat on IRC, go do something. But do not clutter up posts here to the point of uselessness.

If you would like to talk to me about this then by all means hop into the IRC.. Any PM's on the forums, even apologies, will simply be ignored... again refer to time wasted remarks up above.
