      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. (Solved)Thatch Roof Help

So I've run into an issue with my thatch roof. I think the problem is that because it no longer lets light through and is a non-solid block the solid block it sits on has no block light and is a valid spawning space. This means that even during day mobs are spawning in my roof and dropping in to kill me. I've tried placing lumber pieces where the blocks meet on inside and outside to try and invalidate the spawning space, but no luck. There are obvious brute force methods, but I want to keep the nice ascetics and not just cover it.
  2. A Hard Lesson to Learn

All the gravestone mods I seem to find come with a bunch of other crap. Seriously does every mod need to add a dimension now? Which mod do you use? I'm tempted to toss in open blocks and just disable everything else.
  3. A Hard Lesson to Learn

Edit: changed OP to make this a continuing thread of lessons and death. Ladders are hard. Best mine death I had was stepping off top of ladder into a 1x1 hole. Ore stretched up near surface and I had forgotten I had a cave in of part of the surface. "Why am I falling?" Splat.
  4. Version#:79.9.357 SSP/SMP(Single/MultiPlayer): SSP SuggestedName: Floating Trees SuggestedCategory:Annoying Description: I was exploring new terrain in my 79.7 created world and suddenly I am finding a lot of floating trees. Unlike the few I'd find before it was not due to ground collapsing underneath as most had not only grass, but debris, tall grass or flowers underneath. I'm not sure if this is a new problem, but I did not encounter it with 79.7 or 79.8 generated chunks. Sweet 2 bugs fixed so quickly thanks.
  6. Version #:79.13 SSP/SMP (Single/MultiPlayer): SSP Suggested Name: Armour not Dropping from Dead Armour Stand. Suggested Category: Severe Description: Armour stands are entities and so die when hit. The armour stand itself is 100% drop, but the armour is is wearing is not. Dress any armour stand and kill by left clicking. There is chance Armour will drop, but not 100%. 7. (Solved)Thatch Roof Help

Hard to capture them spawning, but got a couple of shots right after the mob spawned.
  8. (Solved)Thatch Roof Help

Using 79.13. They definitely spawn in roof as I see them appear if I go up nearby mountain a bit. I'm forced to play on peaceful at the moment. Too many creeper bombs.
  9. Stair(mode) vs Slabs

I'm wondering if a similar code method as Ender io uses for its painted block would work to allow craftable stair and slab block. There is a block that the texture of nearly any block texture (from any mod) is overlaid on. It drops the textured block and retains the texture for it in inventory. I don't care whether we get them or not, but there is a method in an open source mod that may work. As always I'm not a programmer so what do I know.
  10. how do i breed Stuff HELP!

I would suggest browsing these forums and reading the changelog. Also the wiki has just be recently updated for animal husbandry mechanics.
  11. [Solved] Height Restriction on Ore Spawning

Pretty sure the only restriction on ore spawning is rock type. I can't think of an ore or mineral that I haven't found exposed.
  12. Have you ever found Graphite in Gneiss?

Welcome to TFC. If you don't like my suggestions then make a new seed, cheat it in or quit. The spawning is working as intended. Edit: and you can melt lower tier ores in a vessel. You only need graphite to get blast furnace. Before then it is a luxury.
  13. Sorry was follow up from your post. Implied 78 build. Distracted posting FTW. Meant to inform that with proper build used the graphite was where it said it was.
  14. Have you ever found Graphite in Gneiss?

Well I didn't get a chance to to a large search, but there is a ton of area with correct rock type in middle layer. Finding graphite in middle layer is a pain. Best suggestion is to search in and around large hills and mountains. The way TFC creates them means the middle layer is closer to surface. Alternatively if you can find an area with the right rock type on top then it obviously makes searching easier. If you are unhappy with the default spawning rate you can adjust it in the configs. To keep your current progress just delete region files where you don't have things you wish to save. Then when they regenerate the new configs will be used. There is nothing wrong with the spawning. It is suppose to be hard to find. That seed seems to be packed with other resources and in ssp you only need to find one decent pocket of graphite.
  15. Yup works perfectly from every direction. Thanks.
  16. Version #:79.12 SSP/SMP (Single/MultiPlayer):SSP Suggested Name:Iron Bloom does not move towards Bloomery Block Suggested Category: Annoying Description: When I break an iron bloom it doesn't move towards the bloomery block, I just discovered that it was suppose to do this. I tested it in a test world with debug menu to move time forward. I build bloomeries in each orientation and tested with a full load of regular ore to produce a 600% bloom. When broken all blooms move to land on the ground north-west of bloomery structure. Only the bloomery with opening facing north (I face south to collect) moved into my inventory. I tested with the structure shown in the screenshot and in a bare minimum structure as well. All behaved the same way. Bloom always appeared when broken, bounced up and down and moved through block to the north-west. This has happened to me since build 79.7. As no one else has complained about this I'm wondering if it is something I'm doing, but I'm at a lose what I could be doing differently than other players. Have you deleted your config files and are still able to reproduce this bug?: Yes Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed?: Yes If yes, which mods? 17. [Solved] 79.9.357 Floating Trees in Worldgen

Couldn't find any floating sequoia or pine, which were the main trees I've found floating consistently.
  18. Nice Seed I'm using (79.10)

Highly recommended for beginner seed. I'm actually looking to restart since I'm finding it too little of a challenge.
  19. I used this seed when relearning mod. I just checked my old map. I had found graphite at that location.
  20. Clay refining

Also you suggest that to refine the clay would take several in game days. I would challenge you to find a map in which there was no clay within a day or two of walking. Even if the refining took just 1 in game day players would choose to travel one day in hopes of finding clay. Especially since a <500 rainfall area would not be appealing for other reasons as well, i.e. no fruit trees, etc. Devoting a substantial amount of time to creating a mechanic that players would not even use is not something that is likely to happen.
  21. Have you ever found Graphite in Gneiss?

Finding graphite is always a challenge. I've previously spent weeks looking for it in 78. On my current map I absentmindedly pro picked when nearly home from big trip and found extra large deposit right under surface. What is your seed, I can see if I can find any.
  22. I mimicked this in SSP when goofing around with worldedit. Undoing things made debris look like that when undoing things. The typical WE not liking modded stuff.
  23. Body Temperature Tolerance Build Up

@hector49er I was trying emphasize that behaviour has the largest influence on humans ability to survive in such a wide range of environments. Adaptation does occur in individuals, but how is still largely unknown. Easy example is producing more red blood cells/haemoglobin at high altitudes. However genetics still do have an influence. Humans are remarkably similar. In modern times the advantages of most genetic profiles has largely been negated my technology. However historically they did matter. Melanin protects our skin from the sun, but also reduces our ability to make Vit D. The reduction of melanin in skin allowed greater Vit D production in northern latitudes where the sun is weaker, since the pressure of protection was less. This along with behavioural (clothing, diet, etc.) changes allowed humans to move into Europe. Body habitous changes are also seen due to evolutionary pressure. I think that the modelling of genetic influence on this stuff is too complex and ultimately trivial to invest time into coding. I'd would like to see a mechanism that allowed players to deal with their environment better the longer they are in it. I can think of some straight forward methods of doing this. But I don't think players should spawn with this. Spawn and death should set temperature, humidity, etc. tolerance to neutral. PS I'm not just parroting genetic stuff. It is what I have my doctorate in.
  24. Body Temperature Tolerance Build Up

Some of the ability to deal with extreme environments is evolutionary, some is adaptation (acclimatization), but a lot is behaviour. People who live in equatorial jungles don't tend to die of heat stroke because they aren't stupid. I lived a long time in Australia and when visitors came they would not follow our advise and stay indoors during heat of the day. They got burnt and sunstroke due to this, where as I, same genetics. I'd personally rather not have inbuilt temperature preferences. The range of latitude players spawn in during summer is pretty survivable for first 4 months or so. During that time you would have to prepare for winter or flee. I'd also say the temperature mechanism should probably wait until fantasy monsters are underground, since a good strategy for dealing with the high heat would be to work more in the dawn and dusk.
  25. Surgar cane growth in the cold

To grow sugarcane? Just head south far enough for allow it to grow. Adding an item to provide heat for sugarcane to grow would defeat purpose of temp requirements.
