      Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

      Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running.   1. Is it possible to create alternate/randomized texture for a block? (example; alternate 6 types of "GrassTop" or alternate 4 types of gravel for every terrain in tfc) I'm aware that you can do this in vanilla usingoptifine (because it has mcpatcher functionality), but, is it possible too with terrafirmacraft? Probably not with mcpatcher, but, maybe with some .mcmeta or json file?
  2. I mean, let's say you can add to the configs(unless tfc is not abandoned) line which allows you to generate ores from other mods. If you do not need to have ore from all mods, you can disable ore generation in other mods.
  3. Screw the nether

    So, I have been fortunate enough to play and spend quite some time in both Terrafirmacraft, and its derivatives (or extensions), like Technodefirmacraft. There have however always been one thing that has been missing -Other dimensions. I have tried a bit for myself to get it working, eg. with galacticraft, and on a small server it was functioning fine with the moon and mars dim, with some slight problems with regards to inventory, which I hacked in with tinkers inventory system. On that part, I have never been able to grasp what the problem with supporting other dimensions were, and I have not been able to search up any answer. Could someone here perhaps please enlighten me? I write this because I just learned about a mod that supposedly handles dimmensions fully by itself, and I wonder if this somehow could serve to extend the regular TFC modpack with its own dimmension handling. This could be really exciting! Just enough dimensions is the mod in question, could some of you that are more learned on the subject take a look? Thanks in advance. VonNeuman

I am trying to set up a server but when I try to run the .bat file shown here (http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Installation) the command prompt window appears for a split second and then disappears. I have manually copied the what is contained within the file into the command prompt window to only return with " 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." I know that it works since if I double click on the "minecraftforge-universal.jar" file the server starts up and functions properly. The problem is that it doesn't have enough ram to run without crashing. This is the second time I've remade the server file and had the same results. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or IF I'm doing anything wrong.
  7. Charcoal Pit

    Hey guys, i recently started playing this mod with some friends. gotta say i love the new survival aspect, even though i did have to lose out on some of my other favorite mods. The issue im having is with the charcoal pit. I got the actual charcoal, filled up the storage logs to the max, set them on fire and covered it all in dirt. The pit collapsed and found myself with my first creating of charcoal. According to all the guides ive seen, you are supposed to dig it out with a shovel. But not matter how long i go at it it fails to be extracted. The shovel takes damage and eventually break, but the charcoal just keeps getting to the point were its about to break then instaly replenish(can see this from the texture update) The only thing ive noticed is this while running forge: TerraFirmaCraft(TerraFirmaCraft:Build 76 Hotfix 17): TFCraft-Universal-Core-B2-Build76Hotfix18.zip () forge seems to see it as 17 and not 18, not sure if every1 else is like that.   8. Flashing Grass Texture, Ores/Sphalerite

    Hey guys, So I just installed the latest build ( i believe the latest build) of TFC for the first time. So far Im liking the extreme difficulty, but I am having problems with two things. The main issue is that the better grass feature causes my grass to sort of flicker between dirt and grass, causing extremeley bad lag spikes (down to about 5 fps from about 25ish) and im getting that lag even running on the lowest possible settings. The other problem is that I've seen videos where guys find ore every other other hit on rocks on the ground and i barely have them every 20 rocks. All Help appreciated. The picture of the single block is actually everywhere all over the grass.

  10. Seed confusion

    It would appear that my TFC seed has absolutely no forests. There is nothing but plains and mountains, the only trees to be found are on top of those. Is this a generation bug or a seed issue? The grass textures for various forest biomes exist, but are totally bare. I've struck out on numerous expiditions but they've returned nothing. Any help or commentary would be greatly appreciated thanks! (I didn't know whether this should be in support or seeds) Edit: I forgot to mention, Jungles exist, but nothing else.
  11. Strange Server Glitch

    I set up a server and it loads up and does everything fine, but when i get on, random parts of the land are replaced with random vanilla blocks in huge chunks, but not going up to the sky. ive even put in worlds from my single player but it still loads theese glitches. im using the most recent build and have forge and player api in. btw this isnt just me who gets these glitches when i go on. if anybody comes on they have these issues to.

    I know that they have one use at the moment, which is for Protection Meters, i'm just dying to know more about any plans on what they will be used for next, if there are. I have a few idea's that I would love to share, but I would like to know what has been suggested and/or considered first.
  13. Crash Before Starting

    I get this crash when I tried to install TFC I first got rid of my Minecraft.jar and all other files except last login and ran minecraft again, then I deleted META-INF, then I downloaded modloader into minecraft.jar, then I ran minecraft to get files, then I downloaded Minecraft forge and Player Api Client with correct versions into minecraft.jar. I tried putting TFCraft-Universal-Core into the mods file, but I was not able to play TFC, just normal minecraft, so I put my TFCraft file into the minecraft.jar and I got this crash. http://pastebin.com/7QJRTH5Y
  14. hello, how would i get better fps without using optifine with only terrafirmacraft and Rei's minimap installed? my computer specs are as followed. Processpor: Intel® Pentium® CPU p611 @ 2.00 Ghz 2.00 Ghz Installed RAM: 4.00CG (3.80 GB usable) System type: 64 - bit Operating System. i Have a custom launcher with changeable Ram allocation and have plenty of computer knowledge to do whatever it takes to get better fps, currently with only 400 Ram allocated i get 6 to 9 fps on the lowest possible settings, with 1G ram allocated i usually have 15 to 20 FPS but with lag spikes, should i allocate more ram or is their anything i can use with Terrafirmacraft to get better fps that is compatible? P.S. i can allocate up to 2.5 GB of ram is thats what i need to do, plus i have the latest GameBooster Pro by iorbit. thank you.
  15. Everytime i right click my forge the interface doesnt seem to come up at all, ive tried it with many differant items in my hand and also with nothing in my hand. Im not sure if this is a bug or what but it is in singleplayer.. not sure if forge works in multiplayer but any help appreciated thanks.
