      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Gem Cutting

Could you give us a hint? Even if it's extremely far down the road, it would be nice to know what gems will eventually be used for.
  2. Kingdoms Brainstorming

Funny thing is we already have good health care. Just go to the doctor and either say that you're an illegal alien to get it for free or let them know you don't have insurance and recieve a discounted bill in the mail later. Also it was going to cost the government 716 billion dollars that they don't have.
  3. Gem Cutting

You mean like mini-blocks? Mine would be easier to code but yours has more options. Maybe with the etching feature you could tak Schist and etch it into the statue you're thinking of and then color it with gems for more detail.
  4. Gem Cutting

Posted this earlier but people keep skimming over it. Posting here as you idea is it's brother.
  5. Kingdoms Brainstorming

I like the idea but some servers have problems with two people being on and more than 1k blocks away from each other. I don't see how this would be possible for those servers. (Yes my computer is that bad. At least it doesn't need Optifine to run )
  6. Kingdoms Brainstorming

Agreed. Our leaders worldwide have been trying to stop it from crashing; however, anyone who has studied economics could tell you that you must have a 1:1 ratio of ups/downs. We have been in one gaint up for soo long anyone with half-a-brain could see this 2nd great depression coming from a mile away. I have only two questions for our nations leaders: Did you really think growth could go on forever? Why not let go of the situation and let it hit bottom so the economy can reset? Yes, this would mean that countries that owe money will be attacked by countries that loaned money; however, when the dust finally settles we'll only be left with war expenses and not this huge pile of bull shit that our "trusted" leaders have shoved on us.
  7. Additional Chisel Functions

Idea. Maybe we could use crushed gems to color the etching in the blocks. Kinda like http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/950541-the-runic-dust-mod-aug19/ under the "cool creations" tab, image section submitted by Kinshu, third image down. P.S. I'd love for someone to tell me how to put an image in my post.
  8. Kingdoms Brainstorming

I'm just saying that there's a reason I don't list where my location is. (hangs head in shame)
  9. Kingdoms Brainstorming

This is very true. I was born and raised in a engineering city that supplied NASA with workers. But now I scratch out a living taking care of horse feet and making misc. items for anachronists. I find myself with a closed mouth more than an open one unless somebody asks or says something to ensure me that I'm safe from the rampant stupidity here. I might be more carefull with putting Florida on that list though. I remember a certain year were we couldn't count to 10 let alone whatever we were trying to count to.
  10. Kingdoms Brainstorming

I have a prichel, punch, fuller, two pairs of tongs (one flat mouthed and one for square barstock), a couple good rasps for hot rasping, vise with metal plates to cushion the metals from scratching, a cross-pein, a ball-pein, a 3lb hammer for hot work, a 5lb hammer for cold work (non-ferrous metals only), two wire brushes (one standard size and one butcher block), a cutoff-hardie (makes things easier but when I'm lazy I just use the edge of the anvil), misc. homemade swages for different projects I've done (nail and rivet swages are very useful), and a chisel. I'm probally forgetting a few tools but all you really need to start is two hammers (or one hammer and an anvil) and some tongs. Keep in mind that blacksmiths are the makers of tools. If you don't have what you need, then make it don't buy it. Yes, it's very simple. You start with either charcoal or mineral coal and you slowly cook it on the edges of your forge. Coke is simply a coal/charcoal that you cleaned (with heat). When it stops releasing smoke and starts burning clear, your done and may quench the coke for use later. It should lump together like Conglomerate. Yes you "could" buy it but why would you since it's easy to make. As far as charcoal, just take some wood and light it on fire. After it's cooked for awhile you may check the fire for light pieces of black wood. Congradulations, you just made charcoal. You'll get a much higher yield from an air-less burning pit; however, keep in mind that it takes about two days to do it properly and many of us don't have that time. I'll see if I get some time to take some pictures. If I do I'll start a topic in off-topic to talk in more detail.
  11. Kingdoms Brainstorming

Nice, I use a converted air mattress blower for camping and it's more than enough. Also charcoal is easy to make and still needs to be cooked into coke same as mineral coal. Have you tried pearl coal? It burns cleaner and hotter although it's more expensive. Just please for the sake of the rest of us smiths don't use charcoal briquettes they burn too slowly and with like no heat. Also my anvil rests on a wooden platform that's cushioned by sand. I know other smiths that mount thiers with rubber or magnets and they say that works fine too. Last tip in reguards to noise is don't swing the hammer just let it's own weight do the work for you. A good 3lb hammer is all you need for most work but you cann't replace a good ball-pein and cross-pein hammer. Chisels, vises, and swages are great for decorative work. Don't waste your time on the other stuff, as with enough skill you can do a better job manually.
  12. Huge Mountains

In that case could you make an area for us that has lots of "mountains, Gandalf, mountains" so that if we want an above sea level Dwarf Fortress we could have a suitable range to work with. Right now they're kinda either really hard to find or too rare. I'd really like a mountain that reaches 248 and can fit multiple tunnel networks. Thanks in advance. P.S. Actually, hold that thought. Yeah, nevermind I'm gonna wait till after I see the new biome coding you guys are working on. It might make finding larger mountain ranges easier to find. I would still like to see them reach 248 though. You guys do a great job. Thanks!
  13. Trees That Grow

At full height the different tree types could have different branch patterns. Not much of a response but your post just about said it all. Great idea.
  14. Basketweaving

Insert conflict-breaking comedy here: Scene: A cafe. One table is occupied by a group of Vikings with horned helmets on. A man and his wife enter. Man (Eric Idle): You sit here, dear. Wife (Graham Chapman in drag): All right. Man (to Waitress): Morning! Waitress (Terry Jones, in drag as a bit of a rat-bag): Morning! Man: Well, what've you got? Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam; Vikings (starting to chant): Spam spam spam spam... Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam spam... Vikings (singing): Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor au Crevette with a Mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam. Wife: Have you got anything without spam? Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it. Wife: I don't want ANY spam! Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage? Wife: THAT'S got spam in it! Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it? Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines) Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then? Waitress: Urgghh! Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam! Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Waitress: Shut up! Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam. Wife (shrieks): I don't like spam! Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it. I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam spam and spam! Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off. Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then? Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and the Vikings drown her words) Vikings (singing elaborately): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam spam spam!
  15. Ironically enough the disclaimer wasn't meant for you (as we have spoken before and I know you are very knowledgable on what you post) it was meant for other people who wouldn't like me saying that we haven't really moved forward as it bursts the commonly held ego-bubble that we as a race have about "being the best thing since sliced bread" and having passed our anients in all ways. Which is total fallacy and in my opinion we've gone backwards in many ways. But alas it wasn't meant for you my friend.
  16. Ok here we go: Miners need food and replacement tools this leads to farmers who also need tools, foresters who also need food and tools and smiths which provide mining tools but need food, wood and metal, this leaves you with waste rock which should be recycled for cheaper tools for farmers and foresters, you need masons to work these stones into a usable state, you are bound to find jewels in your mining opperations and they need to be cut by jewelers, the cut gems need to be either stored or shipped and this means a warehouse or wharf needs to be built, your people will want their families to be near and this means houses and schools, they will also want to worship in their own way and this leads to churches or sacred grounds, people naturally get sick and died which means graveyards and apothecaries/hospitals, with this many people they will need leadership aka Mayor and townhall, there is bound to be freeloaders and criminals so a Sherrif will also be needed and he needs a place to secure or deal with his "customers" and you may or may not need walls and soldiers depending on how rich your town becomes and if you have a Lord that takes care of those larger things for you.Mining Farming Forestry Smithing Masons Jewelers Haulers/Peasants or Dockworkers (if Dockworkers then Shipwrights as well) Teachers Clergy Undertakers Herbalists/Doctors Leaders Lawenforcement (Jail, Executioners Block etc.) Depending on wealth and size you may need walls, barracks, and soldiers with thier officers People tend to need each other and the more people you get the more of these basic things you will need. For instance my hometown had 3 policestations and a sherrifs office but where I live now we only have 1 sherrifs office. These are the basics and are needed for most towns
  17. Quarries

Agreed we need a sticky post that we can turn to for DENIED ideas. I hate wasting hours on end just to find out it has already been denied. Yes the search feature is great but it takes time to read the entire thread to see if it's been denied yet.
  18. Thatch

It's life Jim, but not as we know it. Soo ..... perhaps make thatch act as the log piles do so we can stack bamboo, reeds, sticks and the like in nice neat attractive piles. They would make for nice materials to build roofs out of as well. Nothing better then a sod house with thatch for a roof.
  19. I've been reading De Re Metallica (an old medival mining guide [and still the leading authority on methods about mining and smelting.]) You don't need to worry about modern or medival on the topic of mining, as we haven't really progressed on it since we first started on this planet. Disclaimer: Before you try to shoot down my statement without researching for yourself, the tools have improved but the methods have not. Yes, I do recommend "De Re Metallica" to be on your reading list somewhere. It was writen in 1555 by Georgius Agricola, published in 1556 post-mortem (when the pictures where finished) and translated in 1950 by Herbert Clark Hoover and his wife&assissant Lou Henry Hoover.
  20. Bioxx should add Bukkit support

Vanilla Minecraft is having Bukkit incorperated and there would be no point to putting out an SMP version for Bukkit support because: 1. There is no SSP or SMP anymore (once we are updated to 1.3.2) 2. Bukkit is likely to merge completely with Vanilla Minecraft as the new API comes out 3. Bukkit won't stop existing as a Plugin site; however as an API site it likely will 4. Plugins differ from Mods 5. TFC is a mod and likely will never be called a plugin because it changes core files and doesn't merely add content 6. In order to make TFC even slightly compatible with plugins you would have to use a library (which may or may not be coming out) to code TFC specific blocks and entities into catagories (that they might not fit into) just so that other plugins or mods can recognize what they are and how to treat them (very simular to how TFC already works with MCForge compatible mods) In conclusion, there is no SSP or SMP anymore and we should wait on making things compatible until we know how the library Mojang is going to use works and what functions it gives coders to work with. It very well could be that MCForge will be a thing off the past and we will have a universal library to code under or it could be that Vanilla becomes Bukkit and MCForge is still needed for mods even though Vanilla supports plugins.
  21. volcanic forgeing and smithing

Ain't it great that this is fantasy though. I'm just glad we might eventually get lava forges if we can get Bioxx on our side now.
  22. Kingdoms Brainstorming

I'm not sure but I think Bioxx is looking for ideas for features that he can add to help us make these decisions ourselves. It does nobody any good to talk about "I would do it this way." or "No that's stupid it should be done this way." We need to help come up with ideas for tools that help us do whatever we decide ourselves. Multiplayer has multiple players and people have a tendency to disagree. The only real good option is to find tools that are flexible enough for us all to use them for the wide varity of decisions we make. Bioxx saw that security is important so he added a town block. Maybe he sees it won't do everything we want it to and adds an ability to configure it to our own needs with some of the good ideas we have seen so far. One way or the other we should focus on developing tools that help us all out instead of focusing on "My oppinion is better than yours." Give us the tools and don't force us into someone elses ideas.
  23. Kingdoms Brainstorming

Finally something we can agree on because it has the best options we just talked about.
  24. TerraFirmaCraft in the technic launcher?

As long as you still have to download the mod files yourself then I'm cool with it. If that's the case then good work on your program. Not many people actually get around to doing what they plan so my hat off to you, sir.
  25. Kingdoms Brainstorming

^ This. Let's get back to productive work instead of focusing on what we either cann't agree on or cann't stop.
