      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Crashed, have a report log:

I think I see your issue.

Your java arguments is:

-XX:HeapDumpPath=MojangTricksIntelDriversForPerformance_javaw.exe_minecraft.exe.heapdump -Xmx1G -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:-UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -Xmn128M

Which is fine if you are running on a 32 bit system at which point you will have performance issues with this game. I use:

-Xms1G -Xmx4G -XX:NewSize=512M -XX:MaxNewSize=2G -XX:SurvivorRatio=2 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -d64 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+AggressiveOpts

I don't know how much ram you have on your system but I generally suggest -Xmx4G -XX:MaxNewSize=2G if you can, where 4G and 2G stands for 4 gigs and 2 gigs respectively. For a more complete article on the topic here is the TFC suggested guidelines.

It only happened once, strangely. I've started several other worlds and it works just fine. As for RAM, I don't have a lot of it, and it's usually taken up by minecraft and other misc. things anyways.

It looks like portals sometimes still moonlight as suicide booths.  I fell in the void twice before being put on a path.

I apologize if these have already been brought up but I have two questions.

One, can the changelog be timestamped so we know when patches are released (until a more formal release method is adopted)?

Two, are there plans for a dev map to be released of planned features/content, or is it even too early for that?

Is there a way to toggle the creative mode information?

It is quite visually distracting.

Two more things:

First, dirt pillars appear to be possible to build:

Second, it feels like the lake in this shot should drain into the gorge on the right:

EDIT:

it seems weird that the wooden planks support themselves out to the same distance as logs (7m). Perhaps the logs should support out to twice the distance (14m)?

I can't seem to light a firepit. I switched from creative to survival and tried more, to no avail. I consumed three firestarters in the process.

It's buried, but the current ingredient stack for creating a firepit as of 0.1.10 is:

- Four sticks

- Four rocks

- Four straw (this is relatively new)

- One log

TFC2 0.1.10 Crash on Loading Terrain (creative game mode,  new map):

You have stuff in your mod folder other than TFC2 and Pam's harvestcraft. It isn't a issue with this mod.

What is the reason behind reporting vanilla biomes instead of registering TFC2 biomes themselves into the Forge BiomeDictionary?  You're just making extra work for yourself to fix vanilla gen weirdness.

TFC2 biome is SHRUBLAND and temperature is TEMPERATE throughout, but vanilla biome reporting has Taiga and Cold Taiga hexes interspersed among each other.  Only the Cold Taiga hexes have snow.

How are you so sure?  The only other mod I see in that is JourneyMap, which I would totally expect to see people run alongside TFC2.  The biggest problem with that crash report they posted is that there's no actual crash report in it.

Hey Bioxx,

LOVE your work so far. I was just wondering what you would like to do about documenting the features as they are implemented. For example, I quickly found out that trying to light a fire in the same way as TFC1 didn't work, so I read through this thread and found where you explained the new method. Would you like us to start updating the existing wiki with the new information? Or perhaps add a new TFC2 section and document the features there? It would also be useful to have an idea of what has been implemented and what is still being worked on so that we don't report bugs on stuff that you haven't finished implementing. Is there something we can do to help in these areas?

I'm not Bioxx, but there's a thread that kinda has current survival information here which could be added to as things progress. As to implemented features, I'd check the change log on the first page. As far as I understand it, Bioxx wants all bug reports on this thread and has been pretty good up to this point at addressing bugs posted on it.

I don't know how complicated it would be, but it might also be useful if someone could create a mod that simply added a tutorial book to the player's inventory when they spawn?  It could briefly explain the new/different features.  Which at this point I think basically amounts to firepits and pit kilns.  Maybe even a section that briefly explains the general idea behind TFC2 (island hopping progression, island limited metal tiers).  I know zilch about modding but if someone provided me a template for such a thing, I might be able to muddle through, and then keep it updated as TFC2 progresses...

Kitty has been pretty busy irl of late, but I'm just waiting on her to get the tfc2 wiki subdomain running and then we can start filling out the information. Right now, things are so fluid anyways with regards to how mechanics work that I dont really want to set anything into stone anyways which is why this release is being handled the way it is.

one comment - the knapping guidelines on basalt are quite difficult to distinguish - well at least for my old eyes :)

There are already a few mods that do this.  The Guidebook mod does this and nothing else.

A quick question related to what I was asking earlier; is block physics/gravity implemented for any block types? I know that cave-ins are implemented, so it must be in place for at least raw stone, but it does not seem to be implemented for things like dirt, wood, etc.

What should we expect to fall down?

Depends on what you mean. Collapse when laid out straight vertical or horizontal.

Horizontal includes

Stone brick, smooth stone, planks, thatch, logs, dirt, stairs, wood support, grass, and stone.

vertical includes.

sand, gravel, and rubble.

Dirt was modified so it could support stone. Strangely enough a pillar of TFC grass blocks can support dirt horizontal out to a distance of 3.

Don't know why tigers are trying to spawn during world gen.

Ah I see. So a dirt block is in the solid category, as opposed to the particulate category like sand, etc. That's different to TFC1 and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I guess it makes sense to allow a horizontal distance of 1 at least, but I wouldn't expect a large outcropping of dirt to hold up for long. Is the buildable horizontal distance defined per block or globally?

Per block

That would be better as a set of achievements in the achievement menu IMO than in a book.

Some funky behavior up and down the river here in the newest version. The gravel on the sides is missing causing the water too look funky.
