Welcome to TFC, I too share your liking for this mod. It really is "Survival mode as it should have been". With the recent 1.8 update and the addition of different stone types to Vanilla I am suspicious that some of the people at Mojang feel the same way.

I also like it as it is. It makes cooking and finding recopies that you "enjoy" worth something. Aesthetic blocks would be nice.

Hahahahahahaa, I wasn't suggesting that bushes do not produce or come from seeds... I was trying to make the point that transporting an entire bush to a new location in by no means a new or rare thing. Only the most hardcore gardeners would bother starting a bush from seed. Even mature Rhododendron and other large bushes are occasionally up for grabs when someone decides to change their landscaping or do some construction or sell a home.

I have personally transplanted various bushes and small trees, IRL. Dig them up and stick them in the new hole where you want them. When you go to the the nursery they sell you a blueberry bush not a seed. Moving berry bushes is one of the most realistic and believable actions in TFC.

You don't get the cold or flu when isolated, it is a fact of life. You have to be in a population who is passing around the virus. I have some friends who lived in the Alaska Range for years and they never got sick. Only when they come back into town for some reason a few times a year did they ever catch a cold. Bacterial diseases from poor sanitation and such are the big deal with primitive living. STDs? Are you serious? First, what makes you think that early man was running around screwing everything in sight? This is an unsubstantiated claim. Regardless of the absurdity of the idea it is completely inappropriate to TFC. What is this "Early Man" you refer to? Does it make sense that "Early Man" would be out making blast furnaces and forging tools from various steel alloys? This is ridiculous. While I agree that Sanitation can be a major problem, I do not think the developers would add it to TFC. This is because they have stated that they will not add "gross stuff" to the mod. This subject came up while discussing animal droppings.

That's what I was trying to say. Why are you guessing? Don't you see the big red word Protein when you hover over a meat item in your inventory? Every food tells you what category it is in. There is no Trial and Error ever, you should be using your eyes to read what it says on your screen just like you are doing right now. Also, I agree with you about the food pyramid idea. Something like the Healthy Eating Pyramid is much better. *Edit* OMG Kitty, totally got sniper posted...

The change to a log and a stick sounds nice and the addition of straw would be great. Or they could not change it and I would be fine with that. I disagree with the statement that paper > Straw for fire starting. Dry grasses are an IDEAL kindling. I forget what you call it when you rub it around a bit and it gets all fuzzy because the fibers begin to separate, but when done it makes wonderful tinder. I would take some dry grass over paper any day. Paper was used in TFC long before straw was added. I feel that paper should be replaced entirely by straw as tinder.

I feel that it should be left as is. If people think that meat is the only source of protein then they will obviously know that the protein bar is filled by meats so there is no confusion. Changing the name would only confuse people and promote the misconception. While the other categories do contain protein their major caloric makeup is from other sources. (with the exception of leafy greens and such) The nutrition bars are made to be recognizable to people and refer to the major components of the food you consume. It would be much more accurate to have Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids, Vitamins, Minerals, but that would mean an extremely complicated system where multiple foods change multiple bars and would confuse the hell out of everyone. I think it better to leave it alone. If the people are not clever enough to realize that Fruit, Vegetable, Grain, Protein, Dairy are referring to their food then I doubt they will even know what the word "Nutrition" at the top of the tab means. EVERYONE in the world eats/consumes stuff or else they wouldn't be alive anymore.

Incorrect. Player placed dirt blocks start out with no nutrients while dirt blocks that have been generated by the world and not broken have nutrients. It would be interesting to see if dirt blocks that collapse retain their nutrients, I would assume that they do.

An "ingot cutting tool" is called a chisel. If it were possible to cut ingots it should be done with a hammer and chisel just like you can actually do it. Hot cutting would be easier than cold cutting for sure. It is possible to shear steel by placing it on an anvil (I believe over one of the holes or something, it has been a while since I have read about it) in such a way that when hammered on when cold the force is concentrated enough that the bar shears in half. Works with bar stock but I don't see that happening with anything like an ingot without a BIG steam hammer. *perhaps you could use a saw if you wanted to be confusing since the saws in TFC are for wood and you could never cut through an ingot with a rip or crosscut saw.

It will take some time to get used to the new features in TFC. Here are some things that I have found to make life easier. 1. Set mobs on fire with pit kilns so they are easier to kill. 2. Be conscious of the Damage Types when fighting mobs, e.g. Skeletons are immune to piercing. 3. /gamerule mobGriefing false * keeps creepers from breaking blocks but they still deal damage. 4. The Smartmoving mod makes it much easier to move around believably in the new worlds. 5. Pumpkins can be stacked on top of each other if you need to build an emergency shelter. You just need a wood block for the roof. 6. Watch a let's plays from kitty or dunk or someone knowledgeable with the mod. They can be really helpful for when you are first starting out. Good luck learning about the new features, if you stick with it it gets much easier and is a really enjoyable mod.

Wrong thread mate, why are you posting this here? Here he only stated that the feature causes lag for him that was mitigated by disabling the feature.

Double up on fences? Two layers are better than one. Would be nice not to have them pop into existence randomly in your pen though.

This makes no sense at all. Why would you put an ingot back into a mold? The mold has already served its purpose, to shape the liquid ingot. To put it back into a mold would be totally retarded. I see no reason for it in any way. It was probably a bug in the first place and was fixed. Would you care to explain why you want to put an ingot back into a mold?

Hehehehe, that's because it is. You can't put chickens in barrels, what were you thinking? But seriously, it would be interesting if you could pick up a nest box with the chicken in and carry that back to your home. I have never really bothered with chickens. They are small and sort of useless, especially if you still can not breed them. It would be nice to have a constant flow of low level food though.

Have you tried putting them in a Barrel? The name for a person who makes barrels and casks is a Cooper. The word is derived from Middle Dutch or Middle low German kūper 'cooper' from kūpe 'cask', in turn from Latin cupa 'tun, barrel'. Hence the origin of the term "Chicken Coop" because chickens were originally stored in barrels. And BTW we call Ptarmigans "Stupid Chickens" here because they don't move until you have almost stepped on them.
